More About Zondervan Publishing
Zondervan is an American international Christian media and publishing company located in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Zondervan is a founding member of the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association (ECPA).
Zondervan was founded in 1931 in Grandville, MI, a suburb of Grand Rapids, by brothers Peter ("P.J.", "Pat") and Bernard (Bernie) Zondervan, who were the nephews of publisher William B. Eerdmans. The company began in the Zondervans' farmhouse and originally dealt with selling remainders and publishing public domain works. The first book it published was Women of the Old Testament by Abraham Kuyper, in 1933.
Within a few years Zondervan developed titles of its own, and began publishing Bible editions. The Berkeley Version appeared in 1959, and the Amplified Bible in 1965. The NIV New Testament was published in partnership with the International Bible Society in 1973, and the complete NIV Bible appeared in 1978.
The company was bought by HarperCollins, a division of News Corp, in 1988, and is the company's principal Christian book publishing division.
Zondervan also publishes many other books by Christian authors focusing on topics of interest to Christians. In the 1970s it published The Late Great Planet Earth by Hal Lindsey, which has sold more than 30 million copies. They are also known for the Bible storytelling books of Ethel Barrett, Joni by quadriplegic Joni Eareckson Tada, Baptist minister and author Rick Warren's The Purpose Driven Life, which has sold more than 35 million copies, Sacred Marriage, the modern marriage classic by Gary Thomas (author), and Rob Bell, author of Velvet Elvis and presenter of NOOMA. NOOMA is a series of short spiritual films. In 2004, Zondervan expanded to include Renee Altson, Shane Claiborne, Sarah Raymond Cunningham and Margaret Feinberg, authors writing for young readers.

Quality Bible for Less Feb 13, 2007
This KJV Bible (black bonded leather) by Zondervan is an excellent Bible. It is very difficult to find a Bible with quality binding and paper. But this edition has it all. 1. The Bonded Leather is good quality -- there are some bonded leathers that are hard like a hard cover, thus it is prone to wear down easily. But this bonded leather is soft, so when you bend it, you do not feel the hardness like some other bonded leather covers. 2. The fonts are clear and crisp. The font size is 7.2 point type and not 6.5 as the web page says. It is truly readable because of its crispness. 3. The size is much like "ultrathin" or "slim" editions, but it is little thicker, but by not much. 4. Center-column reference (45,000 in all) is helpful in Bible Studies. Its 8 page color maps are useful for general information. Introduction for each book of the Bible does not cover too much, but it provides a paragraph length of each book's summary. 5. The binding is "Smyth-sewn." It is stitched instead of glued. This is the most endearing part of this Bible, in my opinion. It is rare to find stitched binding Bibles these days. Because it is smyth-sewn, it will last longer. Another tidbit is that this Bible is made in Korea. They make quality Bibles.
In sum, for the money ($13.99), you cannot purchase a better KJV Bible than this edition from Zondervan. So if you are looking for an inexpensive KJV Bible, I recommend this edition wholeheartedly. You will not be disappointed.
Great Bible Aug 1, 2005
This is a great Bible. The cover is a beautiful Italian Duo-tone leather, and is of sturdy construction. The pages, while they feel thin, are fairly sturdy as well. Font type is just about the right size (for me). The above information says 6.5 point font, when in actuality it is about 7.2 (the cover also looks a little different than the picture above). Includes a "letter from the translators" in the front that is an interesting read. All in all, a wonderful Bible. And it comes with a lifetime guarantee!
An excellent edition of a time-honored translation Oct 3, 2004
The King James Version Bible is one of the oldest books still available in print. This a a time-honored translation of God's word that has helped many learn His truth. I would advise anyone to own and read the KJV. It is simply the most elegant translation of God's word that has ever been done.
There are many who see the KJV as the only true version of God's word. I am not one of those people. I prefer other translations for study though I do occasionally enjoy reading from the KJV.
This edition is one of the best in my opinion for one simple reason. The publishers have printed the original KJV preface in this newest edition. This is the first time that has been done in quite a while. Learn what the KJV translators had to say about their own work. It's very informative in light of what the KJV-only proponents would have us believe.
