Item description for Raising Positive Kids in a Negative World by Zig Ziglar...
Overview Offering sensible guidelines to help parents, bestselling author Zig Ziglar reveals a proven prescription for successfully raising kids that are happy, healthy, well adjusted, and morally sound.
Raising positive, drug-free kids in a negative world is not easy, but in the long run it's easier than raising negative ones. Now, the bestselling motivational author reveals his simple prescription for success with children, step by positive step.
Drawing on the most comprehensive measurable results ever made available to an author - his "I CAN" course, taught in more than five thousand schools with more than three million participants - and his own successes and failures as a parent, Zig Ziglar offers sensible guidelines on:
Praise and encouragement: Children can hardly have too much of the right kinds. Look for the good in your children and you will find it.
Drugs: The latest statistics and a winning approach to teaching kids to say no, starting with cigarettes.
Time: Quality time is not enough. Kids need a lot of time with parents (and virtually none with TV).
Discipline: The loving parent will not shirk it.
Sex and romance: Be frank, be firm, be realistic.
And much more, in a book that is both refreshingly old-fashioned and startlingly new.

More About Zig Ziglar
Hilary Hinton "Zig" Ziglar (November 6, 1926 – November 28, 2012) was an American author, salesman, and motivational speaker.
Zig Ziglar was born in Coffee County in southeastern Alabama to parents John Silas Ziglar and Lila Wescott Ziglar. He was the tenth of twelve children.
In 1931, when Ziglar was five years old, his father took a management position at a Mississippi farm, and his family moved to Yazoo City, where he spent most of his early childhood. The next year, his father died of a stroke, and his younger sister died two days later.
Ziglar served in the United States Navy during World War II (c. 1943 to 1945). He was in the Navy V-12 Navy College Training Program and attended the University of South Carolina in Columbia, South Carolina. In 1944, he met his wife, Jean, in the capital city of Mississippi, Jackson; he was seventeen and she was sixteen. They married in late 1946.
Ziglar later worked as a salesman in a succession of companies. In 1968, he became a vice president and training director for the Automotive Performance company, moving to Dallas, Texas.
As of 2010, Ziglar still traveled around taking part in motivational seminars, despite a fall down a flight of stairs in 2007 that left him with short-term memory problems. State Representative Chris Greeley of Maine mentions Ziglar in the credits of his CD on public speaking.
Ziglar wove his Christianity into his motivational work. He was also an open Republican who endorsed former Governor Mike Huckabee for his party's presidential nomination in 2008.
Ziglar, who had been suffering from pneumonia, died at the age of eighty-six at a hospital in Plano, Texas on November 28, 2012.
Zig Ziglar currently resides in Dallas, in the state of Texas.

If You're A Parent you need to read this! Aug 28, 2007
I read this book a few years ago and find it a great parenting guide! Above all it's written by someone that practices what he preaches and is a great example for the world.
If we want a better world we need stronger families and that starts with better relationships between husbands & wives.
It works! Jan 10, 2007
I was given this book when I was carrying my now 20 year old son. 3 kids later, I still consider this book a bible. I give it to any friend that is becoming a parent. My kids are the most awesome kids you will ever meet. They are sweet, positive, caring, hard workers, etc (Man, I sound like a mom!). I really get compliments of a great job done when someone meets my boys. Buy and read it. Things will click!
Raising positive kids in a negative world Feb 12, 2006
This book has been a tremendous encouragement and help to me as a parent. There are so many books out there on parenting and at times the advice contradicts and confuses. Reading this book has taken me back to the basics. I was reminded of what an awesome responsibility and privilege I have being a parent! I can strongly recommend this book to any parent!
Positively Spectacular - Ziglar Knows His Stuff! Sep 11, 2005
I picked up this book as I was researching parenting techniques, and looking for ways I could raise my own 4 kids to be kids of character in this chaotic world we live in. I found a ton of great ideas, and wonderful real life applications in Raising Positive Kids in a Negative World! Zig has not only done his parenting research, but has LIVED it! He speaks from his heart, and shares his own life experiences as a dad in an easy to read format that will hopefully, give families across the country guidance and hope as they parent their own kids. Thanks Zig!
