More About Zig Ziglar
Hilary Hinton "Zig" Ziglar (November 6, 1926 – November 28, 2012) was an American author, salesman, and motivational speaker.
Zig Ziglar was born in Coffee County in southeastern Alabama to parents John Silas Ziglar and Lila Wescott Ziglar. He was the tenth of twelve children.
In 1931, when Ziglar was five years old, his father took a management position at a Mississippi farm, and his family moved to Yazoo City, where he spent most of his early childhood. The next year, his father died of a stroke, and his younger sister died two days later.
Ziglar served in the United States Navy during World War II (c. 1943 to 1945). He was in the Navy V-12 Navy College Training Program and attended the University of South Carolina in Columbia, South Carolina. In 1944, he met his wife, Jean, in the capital city of Mississippi, Jackson; he was seventeen and she was sixteen. They married in late 1946.
Ziglar later worked as a salesman in a succession of companies. In 1968, he became a vice president and training director for the Automotive Performance company, moving to Dallas, Texas.
As of 2010, Ziglar still traveled around taking part in motivational seminars, despite a fall down a flight of stairs in 2007 that left him with short-term memory problems. State Representative Chris Greeley of Maine mentions Ziglar in the credits of his CD on public speaking.
Ziglar wove his Christianity into his motivational work. He was also an open Republican who endorsed former Governor Mike Huckabee for his party's presidential nomination in 2008.
Ziglar, who had been suffering from pneumonia, died at the age of eighty-six at a hospital in Plano, Texas on November 28, 2012.
Zig Ziglar currently resides in Dallas, in the state of Texas.

Reviews - What do customers think about Better Than Good: Creating a Life You Can't Wait to Live?
Back to the Basics Nov 15, 2008
Zig Ziglar goes back to the fundamental beliefs that helped him succeed as a father, a motivational speaker, and salesperson. In doing so, he gives glory to God. Many "self-help" books center on helping secular people form better habits. The "chicken soup" series, Jack Canfield, and numerous other writers embrace a new-age self-salvation that never goes to the heart of the matter. Zig points to the Lord as the author of our lives, and the only One capable of creating true change. Better Than Good is about real change, not better habits. It is Bible-based, honest, and scripturally sound.
Inspiring Ziglar Oct 13, 2008
Zig Ziglar is the leader in inspiring folks to do more, be more and live more! Fantastic book. I also recommend "Running with the Rhinos" by Christian Warren as companion book. Superb.Running with the Rhinos: Courageous Leadership for a Complex World
Zig Ziglar has done it again...Awesome Oct 5, 2008
This is an awesome book, I was going through a bout of depression, and then I found this book, It's Inspirational, Movtivational , and Spriritual. An awesome book for everyone...GREAT READ!!
Religious book Aug 27, 2008
Nowhere on the jacket does this book state that he calls upon the bible and Christianity to reinforce most points made. While Ziglar does have good advice it feels deceptive to me and implies that they knew they'd alienate people by revealing upfront how much religion is woven throughout the book.
Simply put if you're not Christian you may not like reading this.
Zig: Still one of the best Apr 14, 2008
I thoroughly enjoyed Zig's book. It was different from the selling technique books and refreshingly so. He explores and reminds us of good how-to-live-life concepts. Inspiring and highly recommended. He does talk a lot about his faith which should perfectly fine if one is indeed open to diversity.
