Through the Glass Darkly............ Jun 13, 2007
When I think of good book reviews words such as "Mesmerizing", "Mind blowing", and "Riveting" come to mind. I could use the same words and they would be applicable, but I would not be doing the book justice.
If you are from my generation and love to get your Mind Freak on, well Baby this will do it! This story is multi leveled and multi layered, full of multiple meanings. It is about one big mind game full of twisted logic, but that is what the S man does, right? He takes everything God made....twists it, perverts it, and effs it all up for everyone. This mind blowing plot is Hot, Hot, Hot, and has more twists and turns than politics in Texas.
Zeph takes you on a mind bending journey following the life path...both past, present, and future (sometimes all at once) of serial killer Vincent Damien Del Monte. Pulitzer Prize winner Carl Nunn is the journalist who is blessed....or cursed, with the task of taking down the "Story of the Century" and in the end goes quite mad. It is a book you will want to re-read to see if there is anything you may have missed the first time around. In the end Hollywood, the Puppet Masters, and really the whole world collapses as all Hell breaks loose.....literally.
Some will get it, some will not, you may catch yourself saying out loud, "OMG"...as you are slapped in the face with the reality that most things in this world are not, in fact......reality. I was shocked when I recognized certain truths in this book about the way of the world and how it is run. It's one big Matrix...or for you other sci-fi fans think of it as the Dark City. For those who have lived a sheltered life this is your chance to see through the mirror, to safely go through Alice's looking glass...or not.
It is a page turner and hard to put down, but once you finish it I must warn you, you may also catch yourself looking around and wondering, "Am I dreaming? Is THIS real? Or did I wake up to only find myself in another dream?" Reminds me of the Lyrics to a new song Zeph Daniel wrote: I don't believe in you. I don't believe in me.....i don't believe in anything that can be played games with.....I don't believe in life...I don't believe in death, I don't believe in anything that isn't 4-D.
It is not for the squeamish....The REAL delicate natured ones out there I mean, not the ones who fake for show because they do not care for "Christian" authors who are "real". I have noticed though even among my own friends that the ones who complain about gratuitous violence, depraved sex and vulgar profanity usually do not have a problem going to see movies with the same content. I read another book before that was Holy Spirit inspired, it was full of stories about betrayal, incest, rape, murder, satanic worship, and human sacrifice...maybe you have heard of it, its called the Bible. And it contains hope, it points to the only way out as well...Jesus Christ.
One of the voices in this book, the narrator, is the S man himself, Satan. He is gaming everyone, those who do not follow the way of the world and those who work for him, either directly or indirectly. There is no loyalty on that side and promises are meant to be broken, he betrays even his most faithful servants, for when all is said and done and there is nothing else left to offer...expect to be thrown out like a piece of garbage and in the end burned like same....GAME OVER. It will be too late then. Satan does not want you to see whats behind this dark mirror or the face behind the mask. For you may find that he has little power compared to the Creator of the Universe. It's all smoke and mirrors, slight of hand...nothings real. "You can check in any time you like, but you just can't never leave"....those words ring true. Once you cross through the looking glass its hard to get back through.
1 Corinthians 13: 12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
Don't Read This Book Late at Night Dec 29, 2005
If you want to be able to fall asleep! There are lots of characters and the time sequence goes backward, forward, future, past, faster and faster. Is it real? Is it a nightmare? Vincent Damien Del Monte, serial killer/avenging angel, recounts his rise to public notoriety courtesy of his interviewer, Carl Nunn. In the process, Hollywood is destroyed and Nunn loses his mind. One of the best chapters in the book is narrated by Satan himself. I'd rate the book X as it's pretty raw and violent. But then again, our world is raw and violent, no? The book is disturbing, but its message is one of Divine Judgment which is coming soon to a town near you.

Glass Backwards is an eye opener, expect the unexpected when you read this little tome that exposes the ugly truth under the surface.. reality is alot closer to what this book portrays than most would like to admit.. definitely reccommend it especially for people who may wonder why they made the choice to sell out along the way.
Incredible Work Feb 12, 2004
The ability to define truth in any form of writing is something which is a true craft. It is SO RARE for me to be able to pick up a book and experience the actual bone freezing realization of what true evil is. This book is one of the rarest forms of literature in which the reader actually feels as though the human souls depicted within the story descend into different levels of hell. There is a beautiful form of symbolism which is weaved within the story and creates not only literary art but emotional darkness. I believe this is the highest form of Christian writing as it gives the reader TRUTH. To define evil you must reveal evil. Bravo to such a gifted author!
