Cute But Disappointing Aug 30, 2007
The text could be much better. For example: on the page that says "pray for us sinners" the author writes "When we can't find the words to speak to Jesus, then you, Mary, are the one we confide in. You open your heart to us, you understand us and pray for us." Perhaps the author should have mentioned what the word sinner means. I am also not sure very young children would understand the word confide.
The colors are bright and the pictures are cute. I do wish, however, that the author had included at least one beautiful picture of Our Blessed Mother and the Child Jesus. One page does have a modern, colorless statue of Mary and Jesus, which is not appealing.
There are so many beautiful things that can be said about the words of the Hail Mary, and this book just doesn't do it. All things considered, I would not recommend this book.
A Fresh New Look for a Well Loved Prayer Jan 4, 2007
After looking over this book, I was pleasantly surprised to have a beautifully illustrated book with well written reflections on the Hail Mary. It is so great to see new illustrations that bring this prayer to life for the little ones who are learning to love God. It is a current, fresh look to a prayer that has been and will continue to be a constant in one's relationship with God.
