Holman QuickSource Bible Atlas Mar 11, 2007
I love my "Holman QuickSource Bible Atlas with Charts and Biblical Reconstructions". I bought it over a year ago and found it to contain a wealth of information for Bible study as well as great information on geography and history. I love it so much that I purchased one for each of my children who are also thrilled to own it.
Excellent resource guide Feb 24, 2007
A friend of mine had this book at Bible Study the other day, we are watching the "That The World May Know" videos with Ray Vander Laan and He talks and shows you all the areas of the Bible and This Bible Atlas has helped us to see the maps and charts for where Ray talks about. It's a great guide to have for anyone wanting to see where Jesus walked, see the time lines of the Bible, see the family tree of David, ect. It's got wonderful pictures and charts everywhere. We use it a lot.
scholarly but fundamentalist Feb 7, 2007
Great reasource with easy to read maps and cultural references. Approach at times was more fundamentalist than the way I interpret the Bible but I found it interesting to read certain passages from that perspective. Should be considered for any complete Bible bookshelf.
Geography Illuminates Scripture Jan 30, 2007
It's been a pleasant surprise to see how a knowledge of the geography of Palestine can illuminate the biblical text. There is context here about why certain events in the Bible happened where they did, and how biblical locations correspond to the modern map of the world. Some history too.
Downside is that quality of the pictures isn't that great--not very clear.
A Good Handy Source To Have Oct 29, 2006
To be honest at first I was a little on the reserved side of buying this Bible atlas..."Holman Quicksource Bible Atlas: With Charts and Biblical". But once I got it I changed my mind quickly. And I was glad I did.
It is a nice size paperback that I can now carry around with me. I use this book at weekly home groups, as well as my Bible studies away from home. I still use the hardback: "Holman Bible Atlas: A Complete Guide to the Expansive Geography of Biblical History", for my home studies.
I am just amazed at the accuracy, detail, colorful maps, the writing, and how comprehensive this quicksource atlas is. The content is arranged in a clear and concise way. And it follows the events of the Bible chronologically with good timelines. All compacted in 398 pages.
A real downside to this book(And this is why I gave it 4 stars.), there is no index listing in the back. I guess they thought they could get away with that because the table of contents in the front of the book is detailed. But not detailed enough. I still would have like to see an index because I was trying to look up a certain event along with a scripture reference and it took me a little while longer to find what I was looking for without the index.
But overall this book is very easy to use for Bible study and it is an excellent source. So if you are looking for a smaller sized atlas that has good color pictures, accurate events and maps, this book is for you.
