From Publishers Weekly Prayer seems to come more easily to children, who are not as hung-up on the
formalities of talking with God as grownups can be. So goes the philosophy of
Brooks, who here gathers children's prayers from around the globe. He arranges
numerous entries into thematic sections such as "Mealtime Graces" and
"Prayers for Nighttime," offering a brief introduction to each category.
Throughout, Gomez's textured, mixed-media artwork introduces imagery from
different countries and cultures, as well as such universally recognizable
objects as fruit, bread, moon and stars. The stylized design often rolls the
art across a spread, offering varying perspectives. A prayer from India about
a hen protecting its chicks under its wings is accompanied by a memorable
painting of a large white hen shielding two sleeping children, while bold red
tail feathers depict Indian motifs. This accessible anthology celebrates such
common themes of prayer as love and gratitude, and also the diverse ways they
are expressed. All ages. (Jan.) Copyright 2005 Reed Business Information.

Reviews - What do customers think about World Of Prayers?
Excellent gift for religious education teachers Jan 3, 2007
I found the book to be great for inter-faith families and for families who have not established a prayer tradition. The prayers in this book help children understand that prayers to do not have to be wordy or somber, just something from the heart. The book makes an excellent present for religious enducation teachers and leaders.
