Item description for Travel with William Cowper: The evangelical poet (Day One Travel Guides) by Paul Williams...

Overview
Although the name of William Cowper remains unknown to many, he was widely acclaimed as the greatest poet of his eraa literary genius. His verse was read by royalty, and towards the end of his life, he was granted a pension by King George III. Many scholars regard Cowper as having paved the way for the romantics Wordsworth, Tennyson, Byron, Shelley and Keats. He made poetry more accessible to the ordinary person. Above all, Cowper saw himself called to point people to God through the medium of poetry, and in spite of his own tragic mental depression, he was immensely successful in this. William Cowper was undoubtedly the evangelical poet.

Reviews - What do customers think about Travel with William Cowper: The evangelical poet (Day One Travel Guides)?

Impressive book - Scottish preacher / revivalist  Sep 9, 2009
Travel with Robert Murray McCheyne (Day One Travel Guides) by Derek Prime is one of many 'Travel With' guides i have purchased and reviewed, and this one about Robert Murray McCheyne / a revivalists from Scotland is also very good.

Amazing amount of research has gone into this book with around 150 photos including, buildings (houses, schools, churches), places, monuments, people, letter, books and other drawings etc.

Eight chapters, inlcuding one of the revival at St. Peters, Dundee which broke our under Charlmers Burns in the summer of 1839 whilst Robert was touring Palestine in view of setting up a Scottish Mission to the Jews with 3 other ministers.

Nice time line at the back, very helpful for an overview of someones life.

Overall, i thought this book was great and was very impressed with it.
