If it ain't broke.... Mar 16, 2005
This is the way reading was taught in the late 19th century. If literacy was higher then than it is today, doesn't that say something about the validity of the "whole language" approach?
Mr. Glazer was kind enough to list the contents of the boxed set: that was information I sought. Thank you. I'd like to clarify Mr. Glazer's comment about the absence of volumes beyond the fourth reader: they aren't there because they don't exist [...]. The levels of the readers do not correspond with grade levels as we know them today. Having said that, I'm eager to teach my 3-1/2 year old how to read in a the way I was taught to read: phonetically.
Only the beginning books in the series Oct 25, 2002
This boxed set has two primers, a spelling book, and levels one through four. It does NOT contain levels five and above.
Wonderful books for home schooling!!!! Jun 26, 1999
Great way to teach your children proper english, and the moral codes of yester years. I use for homeschooling my 4 children(4-10) in addition to there regular text books, and all are above average in reading and writing.
