A detailed account Jun 3, 2008
Many of us have seen the movies about The Bounty Mutiny with Marlon Brando or Mel Gibson. But this book is Captain Bligh's own version of the story as he presented it in front of the court martial judges, and it is a different tale from the one in the movies. While the movies depict Bligh as a cruel man who drove his crew to mutiny through his own sadism, the court martial actually concluded that Bligh had done nothing wrong. In fact, the court praised Bligh for his heroic actions in guiding his marooned crewmates over a thousand miles in open sea in a small boat, a fascinating tale of survival. If you want to know the real history of the Bounty instead of the movie version, then this book is the one for you.
