Item description for The Lord's Prayer (The William Barclay Library) by William Barclay...
Overview When his disciples wanted to know how to pray, this is the prayer Jesus taught them. But it has become over-familiar due to rote and repetition, keeping many of us from looking at what it's trying to convey. Barclay goes through it phrase by phrase, bringing out the spiritual depths and literary richness.
The Lord's Prayer is for many people a mere collection of words that has been repeated so often that is has lost its meaning. It is in danger of becoming a repetition devoid of genuine faith. Renowned theological scholar William Barclay delineates and explicates this ancient prayer, showing us the depth of each phrase. He considers both its historical background and its application to our world today.
The William Barclay Library is a collection of books addressing the great issues of the Christian faith. As one of the world's most widely read interpreters of the Bible and its meaning, William Barclay devoted his life to helping people become more faithful disciples of Jesus Christ.

Reviews - What do customers think about The Lord's Prayer (The William Barclay Library)?
The Heart of Abba Father Apr 30, 2000
Barclay had a unique gift of the ability to paint verbal portraits of Christ. In this particular text, he slowly reveals a deep understanding of the simplicity as well as the profundity of the Lord's Prayer. So often said, yet so little understood, one can read and reread this text and find the newness and beauty again and again. Special attention should be paid to the chapter..."Thy Will Be Done".
