Item description for Holy Bible: King James Version Easy Reading, Classic Purple, Bonded Leather, Sword Bible, Personal Size, Special Margin, Study by Whitaker House...
Overview THE ORIGINAL DESIGN IN THE PURPLE PERSONAL SIZE.
The Sword Bible uses the original 1611 King James Version text (based on the Textus Receptus-Received Text-rather than the revised 1881 Greek and Hebrew text). The Sword Bible makes the King James Version easier to use, understand, and bring to life.
How we improved the KJV: A key feature of The Sword Bible is the text style. Known as the King James Version Easy Reading (KJVER), it does not change the Word of God, but helps explain difficult words and replaces clearly archaic or obsolete words. Not one word of doctrine has been changed.
Features: It is much easier to read than the King James Version-scoring a grade level of 4.9, making it one of the easiest reading bibles ever published. All the words of God are highlighted in red in the Old Testament as well as the New Testament-the only Bible in the world currently in print to have the words of God in the Old Testament in red. Difficult terms are underlined and explained at the end of the verse. Type size of 11.4 Special margin study guides with over ninety topics relating to God, His Plan and Man. Resources to enhance your biblical study include names and attributes of God, biblical terms and definitions, historical outlines, an extensive concordance, and detailed maps. Replaces clearly archaic or obsolete word without changing doctrine.

The Sword Bible- what it really is Oct 25, 2008
Properly called the "Sword Bible" in the 'King James Version, Easy Reading,' this Bible really needs to be understood for what it is.
Long story short, it's a janky overseas study Bible. Without proprietary research, I suspect that it comes from somewhere in the Caribbean. Several stylistic and design elements would be (are) weird and somewhat uncomfortable to ordinary American audiences (chain references being particularly awkward.) It's better than nothing, but I wouldn't recommend it in leiu of other study Bibles.
DON'T MISUNDERSTAND PLEASE, I'm very excited to see this Bible! It is very good that needful places and peoples are getting accessible, strong Bible resources. I just don't know why it's being marketed in the United States. (Experience in the publishing business suggests several possible reasons, all very grim.)
I translate Chinese-English technical manuals into natural contemporary English, so I'm somewhat familiar with linguistic conventions.
While I don't really suggest this Bible, it doesn't mean I don't like it. It's just not for, per se, you and me.
The Sword: exceptional translation Aug 31, 2008
The Sword is the best translation of the Bible that I have ever found, far surpassing the NIV, NKJV, Message, RSV, the Amplified Bible, and NASV.
Each time I would read one of the other translations, something would spring up that struck me as "untrue." For example, in my previous Bible, the Amplified Version, tabernacle is translated as "hut" which in my mind is a pretty far cry from a tabernacle. The writers of the Sword translation have done a much better job, treating the KJV with great honor.
The wording of the Sword is in the same order as the KJV, so if you are in a service where someone is reading from the KJV you can follow along. All of the words changed from the KJV are listed in the front of the Bible along with their substitution. ALL of them. The study helps are very easy to use and in an easy to read format.
One of my favorite features is the small size of this Bible for one that is in giant print. Highly recommended.
Great Features in a Single Bible Jan 24, 2008
I am a former pastor who was looking for a Bible with several specific features.
The new Sword Bible is the Bible I enthusiastically selected.
I particularly like its:
Red Text for words spoken by God in the Old Testament (as well as by Jesus in the New Testament)
King James Version EASY READ --- Words no longer used in modern english have their english equivalents printed in a different and smaller font at the end of the verse.
Good blank margin space around the pages.
The easy-to-read font type is large for a Bible this size.
The Topical Concordance in the back is a big help.
It has a special study guide found along the page margins
And it has much more.
It's a terrific Bible that I would enthusiastically recommend to my friends.
