Item description for The New Analytical Greek Lexicon by Wesley J. Perschbacher...

Overview
Since its publication in 1852. George Sigram's Analytical Greek Lexicon has gone through a host of revisions and titles as succeeding generations of Greek scholars have sought to improve on it. Unfortunately, none of those revisions fully corrected the troublesome parts that frustrate modern users: some entries are incompletely parsed, others incorrectly identify the lexical form, others are inconsistent in identifying forms, and still others are out of alphabetical order. In this book every entry has been rechecked and revised. In addition to correcting the problems mentioned above, other improvements include: misspellings have been corrected; unnecessary duplicate entries have been removed; textual variants and alternative readings have been noted and identified; New Testament references have been added for similar and identical forms having two or more parsings; references to the numbering used in Strong's concordance have been added to facilitate study and cross-referencing for the less technical user; and the introductory grammar section has been updated. The entire Lexicon has been retypeset in a clear, modern typeface making it easier to read. This accurate new edition will certainly become a standard reference for Greek students and all those wishing to better understand the Greek New Testament.

Publishers Description
Since its publication in 1852, George Wigram's "Analytical Greek Lexicon" has gone through a host of revisions and titles as succeeding generations of Greek scholars have sought to improve on it. Unfortunately, none of those revisions fully corrected the troublesome parts that frustrate modern users: some entries are incompletely parsed, others incorrectly identify the lexical form, others are inconsistent in identifying forms, and still others are out of alphabetical order.

In "The New Analytical Greek Lexicon," every entry has been rechecked and revised.

The entire "Lexicon" has been retypeset in a clear, modern typeface making it easier to read. This accurate new edition will certainly become a standard reference for Greek students and all those wishing to better understand the Greek New Testament.

Reviews - What do customers think about The New Analytical Greek Lexicon?

Excelente livro.  Mar 17, 2007
Sou estudante de teologia no Brasil e o livro de Perschbacher tem sido fundamental nos trabalhos de exegese bíblica.

an indispensable help  Mar 5, 2007
As a student of New Testament Greek, I find this book to be an invaluable addition to my library. Every word in the Greek New Testament is listed alphabetically, with a cross reference to Strong's Exhaustive Concordance, and the Greek word's definition, location, and source. The lexicon also contains charts of the definite article, the declension of nouns and adjectives, and the conjugation of verbs. It includes information on the use of tenses, moods, and cases. Contracted forms of verbs are not listed in the lexicon, but charts of these forms are provided.

This book enables Greek students to find the definitive meaning and usage of each word in the Greek New Testament, and I highly recommend it.

Perschbacher does good!  Jan 9, 2007
great work. very useful in studies for beginner, intermediate, to advanced student. practically designed.

This one's hard to beat  Aug 5, 2005
An extremely valuable tool for the novice and advanced students. Every word of the New Testament is listed here in it's declined form so the reader can find a word without knowing it lexical form. There is a good introduction that includes a lot of useful information.
The definitions are a little skimpy. They consist mainly of a list of synonyms. An attractive feature, though, is that when a word has more than one meaning, this lexicon lists examples of verses where a particular meaning is used. If the word is part of a common idiom, it also lists that as well.
For the truly nit-picky, this lexicon always defines verbs in the infinitive rather than 1st person, singular. "legw" means "I say" but the definition is given as "to say."
The price is unbelievable. I wanted a lexicon but, since I'm always broke, I figured I'd buy a cheap one now and get a "good" one later. After using this one for a while, I don't see any need to buy another.

Great for Beginners  Aug 16, 2002
Though there are more scholarly Greek lexicons out there-this one looks great for the beginner who needs the meaning of a word and may not know its lexical form. This really is a great beginning Greek tool and I would highly recommend it.
