Item description for Breaking of the Outer Man and Release of the Spirit by watchman nee...
Overview Every Christian who has believed into Christ and received Him has a desire to grow in Him. The greatest hindrances to the experience of the growth in life are not outward circumstances and environmental hardships; rather, they are a mind in need of renewing, a will in need of submission to God, and emotions in need of stability. In The Breaking of the Outer Man and the Release of the Spirit Watchman Nee provides a clear picture of the need for the breaking of the outer man so that the life of Christ in our spirit can flow out as rivers of living water to refresh and build up the people of God. In a new and revised translation of this spiritual classic, Watchman Nee provides crucial insight into the biblical revelation of the necessity of the dividing of our soul from our spirit.

Absolutely Awesome Aug 7, 2008
This was the first book I ever read by Watchman Bee. A friend told me about him, so I decided to read this. I had no idea what I was about to read would forever change my life. This is not only a book. But there is so much of God's revelation in these pages it was at many times too overwhelming for me to read more than a few pages at a time. So I'm not sure if any of you have gotten as much as myself from this book. But I think if you are open to God's voice and have an earnest desire to live and walk in God's perfect will for your life, then the awesome truth in this book will impact your life deeply.
Warring agains the flesh Feb 19, 2008
Hey I can't even begin to thank God for the man he used as a vessel to write this book. All that is said is so true. If you're wondering "why" you encounter various situations that "appear" to tear you down..well maybe that's exactly what God is trying to do: humble you to bring you back up so that you can be "used" for His Glory. Hey the bible already advises us of this. However, this author breaks it down ...again....To God be the Glory!
To those who are suffering Apr 22, 2007
Nee explains the purpose of the cross is to break your flesh and soul so that your spirit which is mixed with the Holy Spirit, will be released. It is like a flower that is crushed so that the sweet smelling scent of the flower may be enjoyed. One must experience the breaking or this book will be meaningless to the reader.
Amazing yet Practical Jan 5, 2007
I cannot emphasize how deeply this book has helped me. Many books are spiritual yet seemingly unattainable; this one is deep yet practical. I had read it once before and re-read it again as my mother was going through cancer. I still like reading it. Years ago I was semi-confused that someone told me of a verse that "those whom the Lord loves, He disciplines". This book though helped me realize that the Lord just wants to enlarge our heart, our capacity, if only we let Him. God gave us a free will and He never wants us to suffer, however it is our unwilling heart, that's causing our suffering. If we just open to Him, for He is the true peace, true healing and comfort, our suffering would be overcome. I can truly testify that even as my mom lay bedridden, we enjoyed the Lord's blessing and outpouring of love simply because we let Him break our outer man, and His blessing flow through us. Every person with whom I shared this book has been blessed, as if a huge burden had been lifted because now they know how to practically experience the sweet flow of the Spirit: by opening to the Lord in every way. A must-read.
