Item description for Majesty of God in the Old Testament, The: A Guide for Preaching and Teaching by Walter C. Kaiser...
Overview Reviews ten of the most outstanding Old Testament texts that highlight the majesty of God.
Publishers Description This new book by a trusted Old Testament scholar directs the student and pastor to an aspect of biblical truth often lacking in contemporary preaching and teaching: God's unsurpassed majesty and greatness. Kaiser suggests that a key way to recapture this important doctrine in the pulpit is through the preaching of the Old Testament--itself an oft-neglected or mishandled discipline. By expositing ten great Old Testament passages that are rife with evidence of God's majesty, he shows how today's preacher might address this deficiency. He also shows how such exercises as word studies and historical/archaeological studies can be used to help pastors make the Old Testament relevant to their congregations.

Kaiser's ability to make much of God while teaching others to do so is amazing. Not a text book, but a very helpful resource for those who want to make God the focus of their teaching and preaching instead of mankind. Warning: you read this book, it will change the way you teach.
God is my King! Sep 4, 2008
This book helps understand the nature of our God as it provides the reader with a great survey of the attributes of our Mighty God. It is very important to know the nature of God to feel assured when we call on Him. Thanks Kaiser. You have taught me a lot.
Good Stuff Jun 4, 2008
This book is a collection of ten messages from the OT related to God's majesty. But more than that, it is a series of helps on how to study and preach these passages. Kaiser does a great job of exegeting the passages, bringing in historical data, and systematizing the information. The messages thoroughly honor God and, as such, make great devotional reading as well.
Great Book on Preaching OT Aug 15, 2007
This is a great book for preachers, providing a homiletics refresher as veteran bible scholar and preacher Kaiser walks through the study and preaching of 10 Old Testament texts. Beyond simply giving help for these 10 passages, Kaiser models the preaching of the OT with a concentration on the character of God. He is particularly concerned with the need for us to be teaching our people about the greatness of God.
