Overview SUBTITLE: How to Overcome Challenge and Adversity Every Day
Life's setbacks," writes Dr. Joseph Walker, "are never accidental. They are always a piece of a larger landscape- distinct metaphorical scenes in an epic masterpiece." To help you grasp this vital truth, Dr. Walker provides a first-person account of his own intimate experience with an unexpected setback, the death of his beloved wife, Diane. In his new book, Between Sundays, Dr. Walker wraps his extraordinary insights around the story of Diane's remarkable life; her extended battle with stomach cancer and undeterred faith, in spite of the prognosis. It's not just a story of selfless commitment and tireless sacrifice. More so, it's a beautiful portrait of one man's fortitude in the face of contradicting realities- a man teaching, nurturing, and shepherding a congregation of thousands, while fighting a singular, lonely battle to keep his wife and faith alive. Between Sundays is not another memoir of a man with a painful past who needs the world to hear his story. Rather, it's a deeply touching guidebook; one that is certain to provide renewed strength, comfort and hope, not in spite of your circumstances, but because of them. Within the pages of this book the reader will find truth and encouragement that will help them on their own journey.

What An Engaging Title Nov 26, 2009
Life Between Sundays is a walk through grief, and yet a celebration of the life of Diane Greer-Walker, the author's wife. Instead of a journal day by day writing of her life and struggles with cancer, this book is a unique writing about "How to Overcome Challenge and Adversity Every Day." It breaks the progression into a step by step understanding of those challenges. This book gives a glimpse into the mind of a brilliant and talented writer, who must come to grips with a devastating loss.

Why Be Different on Sunday? Aug 26, 2009
Wow! This excellent book begins with "How Do I Love You" by Elizabeth Barrett Browning and ends with Chapter 33 "A Word in Your Wildeerness. In between Dr. Walker provides a wealth of practical living with life from the Lord's congregation he serves, and for us "practical teaching, naturing, and shepherding" over many years. "Have you ever looked at the faces of those leaving a worship service....how sad, but how beautiful? Dr. Walker's timely message to each of us, I believe, reaches out to teach, etc. about the solutions to overcoming challenge and adversity every day. This is a loving book for all Christians and those not saved.
Seasons of Adversity - Message of Encouragement and Hope Aug 24, 2009
"Life between Sundays" is written as a tribute to Diane Greer Walker. It is a testament of faith which chronicles the events, emotions, desperate prayer, and the determined fight to cling to God's promises and presence during an eighteen month struggle for life, meaning, and ministry.
Diane's introspective personality, analytical mind, and passionate faith enabled her to turn her personal pain into encouraging others and to face her final days with dignity, no regrets, and victory.
Joseph W. Walker III husband and pastor records his own battles to maintain a pastoral ministry of encouragement and faith to his flock during this period of his own faith being tested and tried.
The book is written as an allegory. The days between Sundays represent a unique season of challenge and adversity faced after Diane was diagnosed with inoperable pancreatic cancer. Each day becomes the focal point of a spiritual lifeline needed to face personal difficulties.
Each deeply ingrained lesson permanently imprinted on Walker's heart has helped him pen this profound masterpiece of hope. Walker resonates with an unquestionable faith while bringing encouragement to his reader. I highly recommend "Life between Sundays" to every pastor, oncology counselor, and cancer victim. This is strong poignant writing, absolutely absorbing
Blesssed!!! Jul 28, 2009
I have followed Bishop Walker for a long time, but never could I have imagined the depth of compassion that lies within this great man of God. This book has touch my spirit in ways the English language fails to describe. All I can say is that I am "blessed" to have read this loving tribute to the love he had for his first wife. God has truly blessed the world with Bishop Walker. Now the literary world has been blessed by this masterpiece.
