Reviews - What do customers think about Maria Callas: The Scala Years: The Scala Years?
A marvel Jul 27, 2008
This book is really something special. It is not a biography in the ordinary sense of this word, and it comes in a huge format. 90 percent of the book contains wonderful pictures, very many unseen before (have you ever seen pictures of Maria wearing glasses?). Most pictures are taken from performances at La Scala and a lot of colour pictures shows her performance dresses and the scenery. A few chapters are pure texts, an interview with Georges Prêtre,"Maria's La Scala" by Vittoria Crespi Morbio and memories of a long friendship with Mme Callas by Giovanna Lomazzi. A very beautiful book, and an absolute must for Callasians.
