Item description for On the Other Side of the Garden: Biblical Womanhood by Virginia Ruth Fugate...
Overview On the Other Side of the Garden was first printed in 1992 after fifteen years of Bible study and prayer. It quickly became a women's bible study favorite, and has encouraged thousands of women to look to God for their purpose in life. This newly revised edition reveals how to understand God's purpose for womanhood, distinguish submission from blind obedience, communicate biblically with your husband, deal with a passive, overbearing or unspiritual man, handle disappointments and irritations in marriage, and turn the frustrations of marriage into joy.

Every woman needs to read this book. Nov 14, 2005
I am buying a copy of this book for the women in my life, from my daughters to my mentor. I wish I had read it sooner. It would've been much better to do it right the first time rather than have to 'fix' all the mistakes I've made. I can't wait to read it all over again!
A book every woman needs to read! Sep 27, 2005
This book by fugate is wonderful. It teaches biblical womanhood beautifully. It is a wonderful resource for any wife. I helps you understand you and why we are the way we are and it also help to understand our roles as women. It also really helps us understand our husbands and who they are. This book is a must read for wifes and for women. I strongly recommend it.

On the other side of the Garden, by Virginia Fugate Jul 7, 2005
I'm only on chapter 7, but already I've decided that every married woman I know needs to read this, in fact, most married men as well. It will be given to my daughters before they say "I do". Excellent clarification of the God-given male and female roles. Great book!!!
Somewhat Helpful, But Overall Vague Feb 24, 2004
This book did highlight some great points about the purpose of women. However, it mostly focused the whole book on Adam and Eve. I wish that it would have included more examples of other women in the Bible because obviously the story of Adam and Eve does not talk about her relationship with other people. It briefly discusses Proverbs 31, but pretty much skips the part about her working selling clothing and other items. There are just so many more excellent examples of women in the Bible that are overlooked in this book. I agree that it is the woman's highest calling to serve her husband, but I also believe that the Lord calls us to many other things (this is not mentioned). I would not suggest this book if you have been educated because it makes several vague accusations against different fields of study that are innacurate and invalid arguments.
