Item description for CEO Secrets by Vinny Ribas...
Author Vinny Ribas believes that CEOs who have built a successful business from the ground up think differently than small business owners and struggling entrepreneurs. No one is ever taught in school how to have this kind of CEO mentality. It is only learned when one successful CEO passes his or her wisdom on to a coachable student. In this book, Ribas empowers everyone to launch and/or grow a big business by revealing many of the success secrets passed on to him by some of the most successful and respected CEOs and CEO advisors and consultants in the world. "In an age of too much innovative business advice, Vinny Ribas goes back to the well for the timeless wisdom of the ages. One book 'CEO Secrets,' will give you the basic strategies for personal introspection, how to build a team, and how to become a rare success master in business." - Dan Miller, Author of "48 Days to the Work You Love"

Reviews - What do customers think about CEO Secrets?
Lots of GREAT and useful information - difficult to read. May 31, 2008
Vinny Ribas is a "serial entrepreneur" and the Tennessee chapter president of CEO Space - formerly IBI Global - an international business networking and mentoring organization. What this means to the reader is that Vinny has been around a LOT of chief executives of successful and unsuccessful companies. He knows where they've been and how they got where they are now. The premise of the book is that, if you learn these secrets and apply them to any idea, you can be successful at starting and growing your own company.
I have the pleasure of knowing Vinny as I've been a regular attendee of CEO Space luncheons, here in Nashville. His advice has caused me to step back and make sure that the foundation for my business is solid before going any further.
For anyone thinking about starting a business, Ribas' book is a must read if nothing other than to avoid the mistakes that most entrepreneurs make before starting out. The biggest mistake most entrepreneurs make is they don't properly lay the foundation for a mega-business. Vinny encourages the reader to build a solid foundation from the beginning so that, in the event the business needs to expand, it can do so.
I recently "scolded" a friend who opened an office without a plan, and worst of all no money! These are the first two things that Ribas covers in the first two chapters. My friend would have benefited by reading "CEO Secrets" before doing anything.
In this respect, the book delivers. It is chock full of useful tips from how to develop the right mindset to goal setting to picking your business team.
The book, however, suffers from two problems. First, it is short on real life examples of application of the principles that Vinny discusses. Vinny simply provides the principles without the stories to illustrate them.
The second problem is there are too many lists. While this may have been intentional, it makes the book difficult to read. Many authors get around this by writing in prose and then provide bullet point lists at the end of each chapter for easy reference afterward.
Other than that, if you are thinking about or in the process of starting a business, you'll want to pick up this book.
