Publishers Description In this revised edition of Catholics Experiencing Divorce, the authors underscore and highlight from a Catholic perspective some approaches to dealing with the often-tumultuous experience of divorce. According to authors Vicki Wells Bedard and William E. Rabior, Catholics Experiencing Divorce is solution oriented, not problem oriented. The major underlying theme of the authors' reflections and suggestions is that divorce requires some degree of emotional and spiritual healing. Catholics Experiencing Divorce, Revised Edition, helps facilitate that healing process by focusing on accepting the pain of divorce, healing it, and moving into a new life. Catholics Experiencing Divorce begins with the need to move from coupleness to singleness, from loss to acceptance, from pain to peace, and from darkness into a new life. The authors discuss the role of the Church and community during this time, the stages of grief, personal resources, and the prospect of happiness in the future. The authors have extensive experience as social workers in working with divorced and divorcing Catholics. In addition, Vicki Wells Bedard has personally experienced the pain and struggles of divorce herself.

Someone Recognizes Catholics DO Divorce Nov 9, 2002
Sure, pedophilia and the Catholic Church are big news, but as a divorced Catholic for over 20 years, there's another insidious "silence" and that is: What do you do when you are divorced, Catholic and -- to be a continuing part of your religious community -- you are asked to annul your marriage? This book blows away the fears, the misconceptions about divorce and being Catholic. I love them.
Great Resource Jan 19, 2000
This book was recommended to me by a recently divorced lady who knew that I was preparing to start a "Divorce Care" support group at my church -- an independant Christian church. I found it to be an excellent book with many comforting thoughts and practical suggestions for those experiencing the tragedy of divorce. The book is clearly of great value to non-Catholics as well as Catholics. It is sprinkled with useful scriptural references but contains only minimal information which would be useful to Catholics only, i.e., some brief comments on the annulment process as practiced by the Catholic Church and an example of the value of confession as relates to the person's role in a failed marriage. Of particular value are guidelines for consideration when considering remarriage.
