The stories in this books contain all the characteristics that later would trademark Mario Vargas Llosa's masterpieces and make him a pioneer of Latin American Literature; they are shocking and surprising, and contain the unmistakable style of one of the greatest authors of the Latin American Boom. In Los jefes y Los cachorros, tyranny and violence depict a society in which one cannot let down the expectations of others. With an exceptional narrative talent, the world that he gives life to here is just a sample of the diversity of others' and his personal passions.

The irreversible disgrace! Mar 10, 2006
This work is an impressive and crude testimonial that would seem to have been extracted from a Police chronicle. An awful and traumatic fact in the early years of an anonymous, unknown and humble child will determine an anomalous, bitter and comprehensible but not justifiable sickness behavior. Hate and rage; deception and spiritual penury join to that hopeless environment, where the violence is the main ingredient to survive will spark all your interest once you start to read it.
