Spiritual Treasures Discovered Jul 22, 2007
Michael C. Catt presents spiritual treasures discovered in a "hidden vault", from the pen of Vance Havner in Reflections on the Gospels. Dr. Catt's hallmark venture will prove to be a great blessing to this generation. In this helpful volume you will find biographical revelations about this distinguished biblical revivalist, who preferred the designation "just a preacher." Herein we see his heavenly vision. Like the apostle Paul, Vance Havner could say, "I was not disobedient to the heavenly vision" (Acts 26:19). We are eternally grateful for Dr. Havner's obedience to the Lord, who called him into a wider ministry of speaking and writing. This book also reveals Havner's holy values. We can say of Vance Havner as it is written of Elisha the prophet, "I perceive that this is a holy man of God. . ." (2 Kings 4:9). Dr. Havner writes with the penetrating perception of a prophet. His messages express the timeless truth of the eternal Word of God with perennial freshness. As you read this book you can hear his historic voice. Although death silenced Havner's trademark voice on August 12, 1986 at age 84, he continues to speak to the times in which we live. We can accurately say of Havner, "he being dead still speaks" (Hebrews 11:4b). We desperately need to hear his messages about redemption, repentance and revival contained in this book. I highly recommend it!
