Item description for Red Siren (Charles Towne Belles V1) by M. L. Tyndall...
Overview When Captain Dajon Waite is asked to take guardianship of Faith Westcott--lady by day and pirate along the Carolina coast by night--and her sisters, will he be able to save Faith and his own reputation from the schemes of rival Sir Wilhelm Carteret?
You'll be swept away by this latest historical romance by bestselling author M. L. Tyndall. Faith Westcott is a lady by day and a pirate by night. Can she garner the riches she so desperately needs before her secret is revealed? Captain Dajon Waite is determined to catch the fiery redhead who has been pillaging the Carolina coast. When Faith invites his courtship, she hopes his infatuation will shield her true identity and keep other suitors at bay. Can the love of a godly captain win her heart, or will she be forced to marry Sir Wilhelm Carteret, a man obsessed with taking her to wife?
You'll find it hard to come up for air once you dive into this suspense-filled historical romance where a lady pirate meets her match in a God-fearing naval captain.
This is a bold and unusual plot for an inspirational romance. Although the story is over-written (for example, emotions will jump to various extremes several times on the same page) and the plot details are unbelievable (just how, exactly, does Fiath get her treasure trove off the ship and past all the ruffians on the way to her hiding spot in the forest?) these details will not bother those readers who enjoy a good yarn with a spirited heroine and charming hero.
Faith Westcott is a lady by day and a pirate by night. Will she garner the riches she so desperately needs before her secret is revealed? Captain Dajon Waite is determined to catch the famed, fiery female pirate. What will he do when he realizes his lady love and the pirate are one and the same?

The Red Siren Jun 1, 2010
What would you do if you were a girl in colonial America faced with a tough choice? The choice between allowing your father to give you away in marriage to horrible men, or find a way to support yourself. Today that choice would be easy, but in Faith Westcott's time, her options seemed limited. She had to find a way to save not only herself, but her two sisters from what she saw as the horrible fate of marriages that they had no say in. Her choice to try and raise money is an interesting one. She turns to piracy...with the stable hand as her first mate and loud mouth parrot along for the ride.
Few people believe the tales of the fiery red haired captain, the temptress that lures ships to their doom, know only as the Red Siren. But Lt. Dajon Waite has had a run in with her in the past, where she took everything from him, and now he eagerly looks forward to laying his trap to capture her.
Faith beats Dajon at every turn. On the sea and on the land, she leads him in a merry chase that somehow ends up turning into a romance. But what will happen if he ever finds out that she slips to the seas at night to steal from the heavy merchant ships as they come into port?
Red-Haired Lady Pirate Full of Sass Apr 25, 2010
In this first book of the Charles Towne Belles series by M. L. Tyndall, Faith is a fiery lady, the daughter of an admiral, and a part-time pirate (The Red Siren) - a secret from anyone outside her crew. After an older sister is settled into a forced marriage to a cruel, unfaithful man, Faith is determined to make a fortune to take care of her sisters, even if it means pirating. She is especially determined when her father desires her to marry a gloating, conniving wisp of a gentleman who will stop at nothing to have her.
Dajon Waite is a capable sea captain in the British Royal Navy who is chosen to be the girls' guardian because of his trustworthiness and upstanding character. The problem for Faith is that he wants to hunt down pirates - especially the Red Siren since 5 years prior, she stole his father's ship from him and now uses it as her own. But he is easily blinded by love and does not want to believe all the clues he sees, which lead to his beloved being a pirate.
I was disappointed after reading the first two books, that the admiral father is not a part of the story after the beginning. He cares about his daughters enough to find a guardian for them, but we have yet to see his reaction to his prodigal daughters. I am hoping to get some conclusion in the 3rd book.
There is also a character (Anne) with whom one daughter is forbidden to associate. I wonder why she was mentioned there when she plays such a tiny part later.
While the characters lack believability and the plot is fairly predictable, M.L. Tyndall has a captivating way of writing which makes you want to read more. In this series, she has a nice way of bringing in romance without going too far with it, adding depth with the supporting characters, developing spiritual growth for the characters without being too preachy, and an interesting clue to a character's past through their scars and unconscious reactions.
This book is a very fast, easy and enjoyable read. Even though it has flaws, I couldn't put the book down!
The Red Siren Apr 22, 2010
The Red SIREN is the first of three books in the "Charles Towne Belles" series. Each of the three books is about a different sister. In this book, you will be introduced to all three sisters. I loved the love/hate relationship between the two main characters.
I was so into this book that I read it in one day. It is a historical fiction, inspirational Romance book without being preachy. It is filled with adventure and decisions that shapes lives. I do not like Harlequin romances because they are too much inappropiate scenes in them. This book is not like that. There is romance without s*x scenes.
I rate this book a 5 star but there was one thing I did not like. The author was very smart and ended the book with a whole new problem. You feel like you have to read the second book too. I have started on it today. I like a book that has an ending, not an ending and another beginning.
Great Light Read Feb 26, 2010
I loved this series. It was a great light read. It kept my interest with a nice plot that I finished the 3 books very quickly. I like this author's use of adventure and humor. I will probably wait a few months and read them through again before donating them to our church library.
Gloomy book! Jan 2, 2010
I just could not understand the heroine at all. She was so selfish and putting everybody in danger. In the book there was not enough romance and too many scenes have been painted dark by the writer. I could not stand the gloom images the writer has created and selfishness of the heroine. But the writer has a talent of using words to take you right there to the scenes.
