I love this book Jul 21, 2005
I checked this book out of my library twice then decided I wanted to have my own copy. I don't know many of the stars in the book but still found their knitting stories warming as they captured the essence of what knitting means to those addicted to it. And though the patterns are simple it shows what amazing beauty can easily be created with the wonderful yarns we have today. While I wouldn't have paid $25.00 for it, I find I can't resist it at this site's half price offering. I'm gathering up all kinds of different yarn at the moment to make Daryl Hannah's beautiful scarf. Mine will be black and whites.
And then I want to make Nora's scarf. Then that quirky pink and red one by Bridget. Using the pocket as a hat? My daughter will love it! I already have just the right yarn to make Julianna's......I love so many of the patterns I will definitely be getting my money's worth. The stitches are the easiest ones in knitting but the way the colors and yarn combinations are arranged adds all the style and creativity you could ask for.
Yes, the patterns are definitely beginner fare but there is a beautiful spirit in this book and that's also what I am buying.
Dumbest Knitting Book Ever... Jun 26, 2005
I agree that this book is a total waste. Even a beginner would find this boring! As the others said, there really are no patterns here - just knitting rows back and forth using different yarns. We mastered that in my first night of knitting class - these celebrities need to challenge themselves more! I'm no expert knitter, but even I found these "patterns" to be really, really dumb. Total waste of a book.
Great for a Beginner Like Me! Feb 1, 2005
I thought this book was great! I have read all the negative reveiws below and realize they are probably from advanced knitters. If you are a beginner, like me, this is a GREAT book. It's nice to see all the different looks you can get with just the basic knit stitch. This book shows beautiful, luxurious yarns that really make a simple project look very rich. I have ordered several of the yarns shown. Most of the beginning knitter books show the same old, tacky yarn. This is refreshing!

Save yourself some money. Spend 15 minutes in your favorite bookstore, flipping through this book, then go home without it and duplicate any scarves that caught your interest (if any).
Save Your Money! Aug 23, 2004
This book is the worst value for the money that I've seen in a long time. I purchased the book based on Vogue's reputation and expected to find an interesting selection of patterns and styles. Big mistake! With only a few exceptions, almost all the scarves in this book are done in garter stitch, and the only difference between them is the number of stitches used and the variety of yarns selected. If you can choose yarn you like, cast on 20 stitches, and then knit every row for 48" or so, you've got the pattern for almost every scarf in this book. What a superlative waste of money!! Don't bother.
