Nice overview, could have been better though Jun 28, 2005
Very nice overview of 40+ years of one of the best, if not THE best, rivalries in the NFL. Insightful interviews with former players and press people and a decent summary of each and every game played between the two teams - including an extended account of the Author's top ten games. I would have liked a bit more detail for each game - the box scores would have been great, and the book could have definitely benefitted from the addition more pictures. The author gives a mostly fair representation to both the Vikings and the Packers, although many game summaries are a little heavy on the Packer slant and I found the underlying assertion that many Vikings fans are fair-weather fans a bit off target.
As a Vikings fan living in the North East I have spent countless Sundays in a handful of sports bars over the last 15 years and have always encountered a gathering of Vikings fans (usually as big a group as Steelers, Dolphins, Cowboys and other 'popular team', non-hometown fans). I never ran into Packer fans until they became a contender in the late 90's and they all either had Favre or Reggie White jerseys. In recent years, Packer fans have once again disappeared, yet I still run into Vikings fans (wearing jerseys going back to Tarkenton and Blair, as well as today's players like Bennett and Culpepper).
