Tina Helmuth does a masterful job of weaving Biblical facts into JORDAN CROSSING. She has created an interesting, fast-paced novel that is well worth the reading!
It ministered to me May 16, 2004
Jordan Crossing grabbed my attention from the beginning. The story moves along at a good pace that held my interest. The characters were believable. Mara's pain at her father's rejection was very real. In my years as a midwife, I saw many fathers disappointed that their child wasn't a son, especially the firstborn. That's why I liked the character Beriah, and his treatment of Mara, not as a slave, but as a daughter. His insight into the pain behind Mara's tough exterior was moving.
I don't read much fiction, but I enjoyed this book because of the biblical setting. It helped me to understand that part of the Bible, and it ministered to me. Fiction readers will enjoy the story line of the fictional characters, with a thread of romance, and nonfiction readers will enjoy seeing the Bible come to life. Tina Helmuth's writing was skillful and knowledgeable, and the book left me waiting to see what she writes next.
Bringing it to life Dec 31, 2003
I have always loved books that bring aspects of history to life, and Jordan Crossing does an excellent job of that. Helmuth blends fictional characters with the settings and people of historical Bible times so that it makes you feel like you were right there in history with them! This is an inspiring story and a great read.
