Item description for Human Foibles: Six Plays by Thurston Griggs...
The first play was written in 1957 without thought of creating a series. Like many first plays, it leaned upon personal experience - both in its characters and its situations. For a time, if revised somewhat, it was considered for Broadway; but a new Tennessee Williams play surfaced just then. Subsequent plays got their stimulus from acting in and critiquing plays in local theaters in Baltimore, between 1982 and 1998. News items often provided subject matter. Results in this volume: one allegory, one - possibly two - comedies, and the rest dramas on behavioral themes, hence the book's title. All of the plays have been rewritten from time to time, benefitting from the author's experience in critiquing scores of plays submitted annually in competition sponsored by the Baltimore Playwrights Festival - which in 2002 awarded Griggs their Lifetime Achievement Award. Dr. Griggs (b. 1916; Ph.D. Harvard 1952) is author of ONE MAN'S WINDOW ON THE 20TH CENTURY, memoirs published in 2003. He is a native of Tacoma, Washington but has lived or worked in California, Nevada, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Washington DC., and Maryland. He was in Germany when Hitler came to power; has studied and worked in China; has mountain-climbed in the Andes, Himalayas, Rockies, Cascades, and Olympics. For twenty years he was on the faculty of the University of Maryland where he served at Physics Administrator and p.t. Professor in East Asian studies. He holds 5 US patents in the technology of speech transcription.

PLAYS CRYING OUT TO BE PERFORMED Apr 22, 2003
This collection of six of the award winning output of a Baltimore playwright is ready made for a theatre company in search of hot new properties. They read each like a novel. I intend to suggest it to my own amateur company.
