Interesting cover... Oct 26, 2009
I was looking for a NKJV with an interesting cover to replace my cherished old Bible that was was ruined in a leaky tent on a camping trip. First, in all fairness, let me say that I do have a bit of the 'princess and the pea' thing going on. I am picky picky picky (when I can be, I know what I like!) Like my previous Bible, this was a Thomas Nelson, which I liked very much. However, the cover wasn't what I expected. The material was stiff and didn't feel very durable. It's denim appearance had a sort of cheap kind of a look and the edge of the cover extended too far past the edge of the pages, which didn't make me feel too confident about packing the Bible in my purse lest the edges bend and crack, a feature that additionally didn't have a very nice hand feel to it. The stiff edges weren't comfy in my fingers. The pages weren't the typical 'onion peel' that I am accustomed to. The had a rather a papery feel which although not terrible isn't what I personnally prefer.
On the positive side, I really liked the silver edging on the pages, the gray lining and the attached satin book mark. The price was right and it's still the Word of God! I gave the Bible to a homeless man that I met in Orlando who said his back pack (which contained his Bible along with other things) had been stolen and figured that perhaps it was really intended for him all along! :)
