Item description for Soul Mates by Thomas Moore...
Overview Shows readers how "soul intimacy" can be cultivated through letter writing, conversations, sexuality, jealousy, boredom, and endings, and how the soul is enriched through the tribulations of life
This companion volume to Care of the Soul offers more of Thomas Moore's inspiring wisdom and empathy as it expands on his ideas about life, love, and the mysteries of human relationships.
In Care of the Soul, Thomas Moore explored the importance of nurturing the soul and struck a chord nationwide -- the book became a long-term bestseller, topping charts across the country and selling 550,000 copies in hardcover and paperback combined. Building on that book's wisdom, Soul Mates, already a hardcover bestseller, explores how relationships of all kinds enhance our lives and fulfill the needs of our souls. Moore emphasizes the difficulties that inevitably accompany many relationships and focuses on the need to work through these differences in order to experience the deep reward that comes with intimacy and unconfined love.

Wonderful book, depressing message Feb 29, 2008
Reading this book has been a life changing experience for me. Thomas Moore made me understand what is in people's souls cannot be controlled, and now I feel some negative past experiences I've had while in relationships perhaps had nothing to do with me, but it was just my partner following his soul, even though the outcome was not a desirable one for me.
I thought the premise of this book would show me the way to find a soul mate, but Moore's concept of the soul being such an unstable entity and not capable of committing, keep promises, stay attached, etc. makes one wonder why anyone would ever want to attempt to make a committed relationship or marriage work!
wonderful therapy... May 25, 2007
Dr. Moore has a way of soothing your soul and making you feel as if you are sitting across from a therapist who is constantly reassuring you and making you feel good about yourself as you should. I found his writing style at times to be difficult but eventually the book is a reawakening of deeply held emotions and beliefs that will help you in this great journey called life. While his first book "Care of the Soul" is more written to help you develop your own soul, this book is geared towards that great leap towards a scared bond of a relationship with someone else.
life-altering Jun 9, 2006
This book has changed my life. I read it for the first time about 8 months ago and continue to re-read and re-read it. It is one of my two favorite books and I use it as a guide to everyday life. You will absolutely love it!
An excellent education for the relational imagination. Feb 7, 2006
Dr. Moore is an artist when it comes to these things, a master artist. A person will probably learn things they will take with them their whole lives. I highly reccomend this book for learning about relationships of all kinds, i.e. writing letters, marriage, friendship.
Thomas Moore Books Jun 8, 2005
I read this book a few years ago, along with another one by the same author, Care of The Soul. I found his books informative, though difficult to read because of the writing style. Since, I have read many other books that address the same issues in a much "simpler form." I noticed that the price for used books is very low, this should tell you most of what you need to know.
