Reviews - What do customers think about Shaking Wolves Out Of Cherry Trees?

The Reverend Cain Strikes a Blow for Thought Provoking Preaching  Sep 6, 2006
Rev. Terry Cain has written two books, Shaking Wolves Out of Cherry Trees and Lions and Cows Dining Together, both of which are "Sermon Starters." Reach enthusiastically for one of these books on those Thursday evenings when you haven't yet fixed upon a topic for Sunday's sermon. Two hundred sixty sermons are outlined. None is dull. Each has an intriguing title and is immediately followed by "Purpose Statement" which specifies the point of the sermon. A subject and topic index appears at the end of each book. The sermons draw on both the Old and New Testaments. The insightful, at times witty, Rev. Cain addresses practical, day-to-day concerns of parishioners, and he is not afraid to tackle difficult, emotional issues. Both books are recommended.

This book gives one the material to prepare creative, informative, educational and entertaining sermons, a definite plus for any preacher's library.

Helpful to many  Jul 23, 2006
Whether you are a seasoned pastor, a seminary graduate, a seminary student or a small group leader, this book provides great ideas for sermons or devotions. It is laid out well including Scripture passages relating to the topics. A wonderful "jumping off point" for sermons relating to topics relevant to today's living.

Ideas from Shaking Wolves  Jul 22, 2006
This book is not only good for sermon ideas, but would be helpful for bible study groups, church camp or Sunday school studies.

The set-up is well organized to make it a useful reference tool.

Shaking Wolves out of Cherry Trees: And 149 Other Sermon Ideas  Jul 19, 2006
Although this book is written primarily to help ministers be more effective communicating with their congregations, it would also be helpful to youth leaders, lay ministers and anyone who works with people. Dr. Cain's humor and insights provide the reader with thoughts about Jesus's teachings that are relevant in today's complex world.
