Item description for Personal Notes of Poetry: Pain Is Pink by Terri Staten...
Overview Personal Notes of Poetry: Pain Is Pink is different from most poetry books. Seven phases are highlighted that involve some of the important parts of most our lives. My poetry is written in first person, as if I were speaking to you personally. My intent is to have my poems first grab your attention and then bring you full circle, relaying the message back to the Almighty. Some poems may not start off Christ-like, but this is to bring those who are further away from The Most High back to Him. I felt that writing about my most personal life experiences kept me true to myself and my readers. I believe that this is the first of many books for me, and I look forward to my next healing as I move toward the Father. Thank you for this opportunity to be a vessel for others.

Personal Truth Feb 14, 2006
Terri Staten, author of PERSONAL NOTES OF POETRY, has written a very personal collection of poems and prose. She writes about her own personal experiences and uses them to relay the truth of God's goodness. She divides the collection into seven chapters: Awareness of Choice, Chancing a Mistake, Embracing Reality, Understanding Forgiveness, Accepting, Balancing and Love.
With this extensive collection, invariably there would be a few poems that stood out or left a lasting impression on me. "Eating" describes in poetic detail how eating is essential to our lives, but eating right as in doing right in life will ensure our place in Heaven. "Selfish with Myself" expounds on the beauty of having time alone to relish your own thoughts. There are also several poems about infidelity, loss, strength, goals and other emotional factors in life.
With over 200 pages of poetry and thoughts to read, this collection covers a lot. The author's experiences are recorded for posterity and they include the good, the bad and the ugly. Each poem is different, and there is no set pattern or rhythm to typify them, which made them unique. However, not all of them were inspiring. The author is very forthright and open in her pieces, and she does remind readers of God's significance in our lives. However, PERSONAL NOTES OF POETRY is a very vast collection and I thought there were too many selections. With so many poems and thoughtful entries, some of the poems began to lose the ability to evoke the desired emotions, and a few selections seemed a bit out of place. As much as I enjoyed several of the pieces, with a few less poems, this collection would be more effective.
