Item description for Stories about Purgatory: And What They Reveal by An Ursiline of Sligo...
Overview Arranged as 30 DAYS FOR THE HOLY SOULS, this book was written to engrave on the minds and hearts of its readers an indelible understanding about Purgatory - first, that it exists; second, that the souls detained there suffer long and excruciating pains, just like those of Hell, except that they eventually end; third, that the Poor Souls desperately need our prayers, suffrages and Mass intentions; and fourth, that while we are still living, we ourselves should strive mightily to avoid Purgatory. Hardly anyone is truly perfect; therefore, most people who save their souls will probably be detained in Purgatory. Enlightening and encouraging, but very sobering!

Poor Souls... Apr 4, 2010
This is a wonderful book to read during the month of November, which is the month dedicated to praying for the Poor Souls. There is a chapter a day for the month, with a story at the end of each chapter about actual souls in purgatory. Or it could be read any other month. It also teaches us much about Purgatory, so it's a good buy.
Title Is Not Exact Mar 18, 2010
Title says stories about Purgatory. This book is more about why we should pray for the souls. Still a good book but I was hoping for actual stories about souls in purgatory throughout the whole book and what they said. There is a few prayers in the book for the poor souls but I wish there was more. I found it on the boring side.
If you want to read stories about souls in purgatory read the book Hungry Souls. I could not put that one down. This book will convince you to pray for the poor souls!
This book was literally a "God-send" Apr 15, 2009
I had a series of 30 Masses called Gregorian Masses said for my grandfather a few years ago. After the Masses were completed I asked God for a confirmation that my grandfather was in Heaven. Since someone had just found the holy card from his funeral 40 years before in a prayer book left in a hospital waiting room,I asked God if this was my confirmation and when I arrived home that day in the mail was this book, "30 Days for the Holy Souls"! I could hardly put the book down. It is fascinating reading. It is very enlightening to read what types of actions we need to be cleansed of before we can spend eternity with the Almighty. I am grateful to have received this book through Divine Providence. June Klins Author The Best of "The Spirit of Medjugorje": Volume I
