Publishers Description The threat of war--and a final request--send Veronique Girard from France to a distant and uninviting country. In the Colorado Territory, she searches for the man who has held her heart since childhood--her father. Pierre Girard left Paris for the Americas to seek his fortune in fur trading, vowing to send for his wife and daughter. But twenty-five years have passed and his vow remains unfulfilled. Sifting through shards of broken promises, Veronique embarks on a dangerous search for a man she scarcely remembers. His grief finally healed, Jack Brennan is moving on with life. After years of guiding families west, he is now working as a freighter to the mining towns surrounding Willow Springs. Three for Three What a Wonderful Series Jul 17, 2009
This series is the first books I have ever read of Tamara Alexander's but they certainly are not going to be the last. In fact,I have already ordered another series written by her, as I was so impressed with this series. This last book was a delight as well as the other two. I will admit, for some reason I had a more difficult time getting started on this book than I did the others but as soon as some of the original characters started popping up in the book I got very interested once again. As I think back on this, I feel that is a bit strange as I really did end up liking the Veronique who started out the book fresh and that is where I was stumbling and having trouble getting started. I think I did not like her in the beginning as she was written, as a bit spoilt without realizing it, even though she had been a servant. This may have been part of the reason I had trouble with the start of this book, but this is one that is worth getting through those few pages, if you, too, find that difficult. She finds herself much to her surprise falling in love with Jack Brennan, who you will remember as the Trail Boss in the previous book and one you will really come to love and admire. Once again, I felt saddened when this series came to end... as I had to leave love ones behind ... I felt a bit sad that there was little revisiting of Annabelle and Matthew from "Revealed" which was the Second book in this delightful series, but I was very thrilled to revisit Kathryn & Larson from "Rekindeled" and the Parson his wife and their darling daughter Lilly. I am looking forward to reading many more of Tamara Alexander's books in the future.
