Fast-paced legal thriller Jan 28, 2008
A great debut novel for Susan Schaab! In this fast-paced legal thriller Schaab focuses on a subject that could affect any one of us, identity theft. A well conceived plot and interesting insights into the world of a major law firm make this an entertaining read.
Chick book Jan 12, 2008
If there are chick flicks, this is a chick book. I wonder how many rich guys there are in this world who really love dogs, like egg white only vegatable omlettes, dumped their last girlfriend who may be pregnent, but are willing to commit numerous felonies, start fist fights, and marry a woman he hasn't slept with yet. Not to mention, who kidnaps someone in front of two FBI agents so they can claim the victim committed a murder while kidnapped?
Wearing The Spider Dec 28, 2007
For the fan of legal thrillers this will prove a good read and something different in the way of the genre. A refreshing change. Evie Sullivan is working hard to please her bosses and become a partner in the law firm where she is employed. So why does it suddenly see she is being undermined at work? A combination of subplots involving different clients of the firm and different partners keep you reading to find out just what is going on. She seems to be unable to please anyone yet they keep piling the work on. Don't jump to conclusions. There are a few surprises for the reader as the story progresses. Talented author Susan Schaab skillfully weaves several subplots involving the motives of the well-drawn characters into a cohesive story that offers an intriguing read. This story offers a good look into the operation of a legal firm that only handles wealthy, powerful clients and will do whatever is necessary to achieve their ends. Altogether a fun read. I'm pleased to recommend this tale to any reader. You'll be looking for other books by this fine author. Enjoy. I did.
A Gripping Tale Nov 5, 2007
This book is one of the few legal thrillers that manages to be an exciting, well-plotted, fast-paced thriller and yet still be plausible as it describes the life of an associate in a major law firm.
Evie Sullivan is a respected senior associate who handles intellectual property disputes when the novel opens. She's also about to become the victim of an insidious plot that has everyone else around her questioning her sanity or her honesty.
The image of wearing a spider may make you shudder, but so will what happens to Evie. Something similar could so easily happen to anyone in the corporate world.
