Item description for Alphabet Soup for Christian Living by Susan McCarthy Peabody...
Overview This warm and friendly invitation to ponder the spiritual life is truly "food for the soul," a hearty serving of reflections and insights for today's busy Christians. Just as alphabet soup has a jumble of letters that don't seem to connect, our lives are often a jumble of thoughts, feelings, and happenings. We drift along without a goal. Our lives make no sense until we feel the touch of Jesus and respond to him. These A to Z reflections offer insights about how to make this connection with Jesus. The author shares heartfelt reflections on many and varied aspects of Christian living--making connections with Jesus--including the beatitudes, faith, healing, joy, Mary, prayer, saints, values, wisdom, and much more. After each section, in "My Journal," she offers questions for reflection and suggested follow-up activities. Her hope is that readers will spend quality time in prayer and reflection and thus come to a deeper realization that God loves them unconditionally.

Reviews - What do customers think about Alphabet Soup for Christian Living?
Just the Right Amount of Seasoning in this Soup. Sep 3, 2007
Alphabet Soup for Christian Living is a real gem. It groups every day topics in alphabetical order and through scripture, musings, and vignettes deftly reveals the extraordinary in an ordinary world. The reader can quickly skim the entire book or spend hours on one page.
The writing is crisp yet conversational. It is heartwarming, but not sappy, thought-provoking but not weighty, eclectic but not random. The book gently weaves scripture and holiness into everyday life in a vehicle as inauous as the alphabet. Each lettered-section concludes with "My Journal" which prompts the reader with ideas to incorporate the lesson into his own unique spiritual journey.
This book would make a great gift for teenagers and adults. It gently opens a door to our spiritual selves without being preachy or dogmatic. This is my go-to-book when I am feeling lonely but don't want anybody around. It feels like a nice conversation with myself. It is comforting and uplifting in a quiet, respectful, gentle way.
