Really Kept Me Guessing To The End Jun 26, 2004
This book is a great read with a real plot not just violence, (...) like a lot of books today. The author has the ability to keep me guessing. I felt that the plot was very unique and I liked the author's style. I like the true Whodunnit type of book that makes the reader think and keeps you in suspense until the last page. If you are looking for a book with lots of mystery this is it! I enjoy books by the masters like (...)and I think that Susan is on her way to becoming a great author. I understand she is working on a sequel, I can hardly wait for it to come out. I recommend this book highly. Don't let one naysayer disuade you from the experience of a great read.

This book is trite, derivative, and wholly lacking in suspense. The only glimmer in this work is how obvious the conclusion turns out to be. Next to this the Nancy Drew mysteries look like Shakespeare.

Book Hits Big!!! Aug 24, 2003
The Gleaming Secret, by Susan Ickes, is a great mystery thriller. It has so many twists and turns. You truely don't know who the killer is until the end of the book. Morgan Todd is a private detective working on a case that almost seems unsolvable. She never gives up and persists through tough times and even worse times. You can get wrapped up in The Gleaming Secret so easily, you'll never want to put it down. It is definatly worth the read.
An enjoyable murder mystery. Jul 19, 2003
I really enjoyed reading this book - it was a quick read, though thoroughly satisfying. The Gleaming Secret moved quickly and I had a hard time putting it down! I look forward to reading more about P.I. Morgan Todd's cases.
Kept us guessing to the end! Jun 22, 2003
Loved the plot - kept us guessing to the end although at one point we did have it right, then promptly went on to another!
Susan has a great knack for suspense and writes reminiscent of the 1940's - a good, old-fashioned detective mystery, with a female twist......but still entertaining for the male reader.
Although there are a few minor glitches in the book, it's still WELL-worth the read.....we're anxious to read more about female Private Investigator M.C. "Morgan" Todd's adventures.
