Reviews - What do customers think about More Than a Cowboy (Love Inspired #474)?
Rich, emotionally satisfying debut Mar 21, 2009
Welcome to the world of cowboys, ranches, rodeos, a world of tears, faith and love. A beautiful rodeo clown carries a secret behind her bright, smiling make-up, one of pain and sorrow. Ms. Hornick fearlessly explores lost innocence, betrayal and redemption and the reader is left breathless, feeling the love. Treat yourself by reading this book.
Evocative storytelling Mar 20, 2009
Sue Hornick is one of the most evocative writers I've ever read. Her language is beautiful. I thought the plot and the characters in this book were excellent. Wonderful storytelling!
Wonderful characters and story of redemption Mar 20, 2009
I loved the characters in this story and found the path to Haley Clayton's reconnection with her faith compelling and touching. The hero, Jared Sinclair, was strong with emotional depth. The conflict between him and Haley was believeable and heartfelt. I also thought it was great that Haley was a rodeo clown. The author obviously knows rodeos and ranching very well. This is definitely a "keeper" for me. I look forward to her next book!

Description from back of the book: The identity of her daughter's father is a secret, one that single mother Haley Clayton must keep forever--for a very good reason. But when a tragedy takes the man's life--a tragedy Haley fears was her fault--the truth comes out. And now the man's stepbrother, handsome rancher Jared Sinclair, wants answers. Why has Haley kept the child from his family? What is she hiding? Haley can't tell him--ever. But then Jared insists Haley and young Sarah spend time at the family ranch, where she discovers he's not just a proud cowboy; he's her--and her daughter's--deepest wish.
My View: Good story for someone who is looking for a read that will inspire them to believe in happy ever afters. I liked the characters, especially Haley and her struggles with her past. I just wish that Haley would just let her secret go a little earlierin the story. It seemed to me she spent too much time kicking herself for something she had no control over. There were times when I just thought she should tell Jared already and get it over with. With his faith and beliefs he would be able to get over it and move on with their lives.
