great read! Sep 25, 2005
Dr. Stevens tells stories from the mission field of Tenwik Hospital in Africa. His stories are riveting, but they are used as illustrations of spiritual truths. I read the book aloud to my family, and we were all fascinated. The book is true to the Bible and vivid because of the life stories from Dr. Stevens' medical experience.
A awesome book Aug 21, 2005
This book well worth it for any Christian, but a must for any Christian looking to go into the medical field.
A must read! Aug 27, 2004
I came acroos this book and have found it fascinating and extremely helpful. Although not a Physician, I am a paramedic who has daily contact with ill, wounded, and broken people. This book has deepened my compassion for them and helped me focus on what my purpose is in life. I highly recommend it to anyone in the health care field. It's principles are broad enough that those outside of the medical field will also find it refreshing.

The art of mixing faith and medicine is clearly defined
Wise and compelling May 25, 2001
I began to read this book out of duty: I am a pastor and a massage therapist, I have an interest in the spirituality of healing, and I try to keep up with what's written on the subject. Much of it is dreadful. Twenty pages into this book, and I was hooked. It has wonderfully icky medical stories. It has spiritual insights (from a style of spirituality very different from my own). It has a flavor of humble honesty. It has very funny moments. I was surprised: I love it. I'm buying a stack for presents.
