Item description for The Books of the Bible: A Simple Guide by Stephen J. Binz...
Overview Many people feel reluctant to begin reading the Bible. It seems too big, too difficult, too controversial, too ancient. In this gem of a book, author and Scripture scholar, Stephen J. Binz encourages readers to overcome these fears by approaching the Bible in a realistic, do-able manner. He offers practical suggestions for making Bible reading a part of one's everyday routine, and he suggests that readers follow these four steps when reflecting on biblical passages: 1. Observe: what does the passage say? 2. Interpret: what does the passage mean? 3. Reflect: what does it mean for my life, my relationships, my faith? 4. Apply: how am I going to act on God's Word today? Best of all, this handy resource includes concise descriptions of every book in the Bible.
