Overview What happens when the storm does not pass? When the pain does not stop? When the same mistakes break the same hearts again and again? Find hope, challenge, and inspiration through Jesus's passion to restore the un-restorable through six encounters with individuals in scripture who believed they were too far-gone. Publishers Description What happens when the storm does not pass? When the pain does not stop? When the prodigal does not return? When our sins continue to taunt us? When we make the same mistakes and break the same hearts again and again? When the chasm between what we do and what God intends widens until we can't even see the other side? In six very special encounters recorded in the Gospels, Jesus addressed the too much and the too late scenarios of our lives. Pastor, teacher and author Shane Stanford brings these meetings vividly to life, offering a glimpse of Jesus' passion for restoring the unrestorable and redeeming the unredeemable. As a hemophiliac who lives with HIV and hepatitis-C, Stanford has deeply and personally experienced the too much and the too late of life, and recognizes his own story in these six appointments with Jesus. In When God Disappears, he helps us to do the same: to see ourselves in these messy, all too-human Jesus encounters and to experience the grace and hope of a God who has not forgotten us.

No matter what you're facing... Aug 11, 2008
Shane Stanford weaves authentic, moving stories of Jesus then with Jesus today. This book will speak deeply to you no matter what you're facing, whether it's life-threatening or soul-wearying. More than anything, in this book you'll hear the heart of Jesus. You're not alone. There's hope. --endorsement by David Sanford, president of Sanford Communications, Inc., and author of If God Disappears

I have read several Shane Stanford books, and this one, by far, is the best. From the foreword on, the book speaks to the basic fears and struggles we all face by connecting us to familiar stories of Scripture. However, you will never see these stories the same again. I recommend this book to anyone who is dealing with a crisis or personal struggle. When you finish, not only do you feel better about the day, but you believe tomorrow will be okay as well. Even in the most complicated of circumstances, Shane reminds us that we are not alone. God has not disappeared.
