Overview Mama Bear decides that her family is watching too much TV and demands that TV be prohibited for a week and other activities pursued
Publishers Description When Mama Bear decides her family spends too much time in front of the TV, she bans it for a week. Then the Bear family finds other ways to have fun and keep busy, so they watch less when TV is allowed again--and they don't even miss it.
Stan and Jan Berenstain were both born in 1923 in Philadelphia. They didn't know each other as children, but met later at school, at the Philadelphia College of Art. They liked each other right away, and found out that the both enjoyed the same kinds of books, plays, music and art. During World War II, Stan was a medical assistant in the Army, and Jan worked in an airplane factory. When the war was over, they got married and began to work together as artists and writers, primarily drawing cartoons for popular magazines. After having their two sons Leo and Michael, the Berenstains decided to write some funny children's books that their children and other children could read and enjoy. Their first published children's book was called The Big Honey Hunt . It was about a family of bears, who later became known as the "Berenstain Bears".
Over 50 children's books later, Stan and Jan still plan all of their books together -- both write the stories, and both write the pictures. They live outside of Philadelphia in the country.

Reviews - What do customers think about The Berenstain Bears and Too Much TV (First Time Books(R))?
Too Much TV May 25, 2008
The Berenstain Bear's have television issues, like lots of kids. They love too watch it, and their poppa, daddy, enjoys it too! The family members sometimes, watch it too much, so Momma bear devises a plan......But, will it work? This may get kids thinking of wats to avoid too much TV.
My kids loved these books Sep 12, 2007
My kids have enjoyed every one of the Berenstain books and I like them too because they all teach a lesson in a non-preachy way. Unfortunately. the other lesson they all teach is that Papa is at best just another child, and at worst a buffoon. Sort of like the foolish fathers on the sitcoms.
Problems with TV? Jun 1, 2007
When the bears have a problem with too much tv, mamma bear goes into action. The bears learn that too much tv is not a good thing.
The Berenstain magic Nov 6, 2006
When my children were small they loved the Berenstain books. It still is a great pleasure to see these books. One of their finest features is the appealing way the Bears are drawn. They are so bright and colorful. The TV book is a good one, and it has an excellent lesson for the world's children. Too much sitting and watching T.V. dulls the mind and the heart. Children need more time to be outside playing, or with their parents, or reading books, or doing many other things. This book may seem a bit dated as today the couch- potato distractions are more diverse( and perhaps Interactive) than T.V. In any case this little book is a fine and amusing read for children and for parents alike.
