Item description for The Gospel of Yeshua : A Fresh Look at the Life and Teaching of Jesus by Skip Johnson...
First, there was Jesus (Yeshua), the baby born in Bethlehem. Then the baby grew up and, for one year, led an itinerant, mostly rural ministry. Fast-forward 2,000 years. Jesus' teaching has become one of the world's great religions, but it also has fragmented into countless schools of thought. Somewhere along the way, the teaching was obscured by a wide variety of conflicting religious, political, and theological forces. Who was Jesus the man, and what did he actually teach?
In The Gospel of Yeshua: A Fresh Look at the Life and Teaching of Jesus, veteran journalist Skip Johnson combines ancient testimony with modern Bible research to produce a richly detailed portrait of the life and teaching of Jesus. This biography presents Jesus' teaching as his disciples would have heard and understood it, and it focuses on how anyone can attain happiness beyond human imagination, regardless of present circumstances.

The reading of this book was very inspiring. Makes you want to go back and read the gospel. Gives a true understanding of christianity.
Great job! Jun 22, 2002
Skip Johnson did a wonderful job of making the life of Christ come alive. Thumbs up for a job well done.
Did I read the same book? Mar 7, 2002
While this novel is has no glaring flaws, I didn't feel that the characters were anything more than simple cut-out figures. The exposition is also less than riveting; I often felt that a travel book or encyclopedia passage was simply grafted into the story, as in this passage: "At approximately 1,300 feet below sea level, the Jordan empties into the Dead Sea, from which there is no outlet. Water escapes from it only by evaporation. The sea covers 390 square miles, is 1,200 feet deep, and is the lowest spot on earth." The paragraph continues, but I think it gives some of the flavor of this "strongly written book" (quote from the back cover).
You will not be disappointed!! Jun 7, 2001
Skip Johnson has written a simple, yet masterful account of Jesus' life. He tells the story of Jesus, the man- a man who laughs, and crys, but most importantly, loves unconditionally.
