Item description for Torah Lights: Genesis Confronts Life, Love and Family by Shlomo Riskin...
The Bible may be likened to a magnificent diamond, glistening with many brilliant colors all at the same time. And although the different hues often appear to be contradictory, when you view the totality of the light emanating from the diamond, you begin to appreciate how complementary they really are. Thus the sages of the Talmud understood that there are many possible truths contained in each biblical statement, each adding its unique melody to the magnificent symphony of the whole, synthesizing not in conflicting dissonance but in holy dialectic. Torah Lights is Rabbi Shlomo Riskin's analysis and original contemplations on life, love and family in the biblical book of Genesis.

One of the greatest voices for Judaism we have today Nov 18, 2005
This work opens with a moving personal introduction by Rabbi Riskin in which he pays tribute to the beloved grandmother who inspired his Torah Study. It continues with a series of illuminating commentaries on the Parshat HaShevuah. Many of these commentaries appeared first as Rabbi Riskin's Friday column in the Jerusalem Post. Rabbi Riskin teaches love of the Torah, love of the people and land of Israel- service of God. He makes the Torah live for us in our day. This is an invaluable collection by one of the most important teachers of Judaism we have today.
