Reviews - What do customers think about Dinosaurs Tyrannosaurus & Apatosaurus (Kumon 3-D Paper Craft Workbooks)?
Lots of fun on a rainy day Mar 30, 2008
We have enjoyed the Kumon line of workbooks and activity books since my elder son was 2. The clear, bright colors and heavy paper really are indicative of the high quality of the books themselves, and the activities in them.
My son, now 8, built the tyrannosaurus with very little help on my part. He and I built the apatosaurus a year and a half ago, and like the other reviewer, there were skill-related problems. I ended up doing more of the project than our son, so we put the other half of the book away until now. What a difference! Definitely don't expect a great experience with someone less than seven. Seven would require some help, and older kids would need less and less the older they get.
The tyrannosaurus looks pretty great, if I do say so. It was a good fine motor skill activity for our son, as there is some detailed cutting involved, and a few different types of easy folding. It gave him practice reading and following directions, and practice focusing on one quiet activity for quite some time.
My biggest suggestion would be to use some type of glue that is quick setting. We used a Zig 2-way glue pen from my wife's scrapbook room and it worked great. Just a few seconds holding the glued parts together and it was set.
It's a great idea to have a couple of these books lying around for a rainy day or just one of those quiet lazy days when your child can't think of anything new to do. Break one of these books out and your child will be entertained for hours!
Love Kumon products, cute dinosaur, not for younger ages Jan 13, 2008
We use a lot of Kumon products and just love them! This is another great product. However, I tried to do it with my 5 year old (this is rated for 7 and up) and ultimately built it myself. He did the cutting (although he cut off some critical pieces that had to be re-attached) and I did the assembly. It was just too advanced for his age. And this product really needs to be cut and assembled perfectly or it doesn't look or stand correctly. So, I find Kumon's recommended ages for their products right on the money.
