Great way of life! Dec 13, 2007
I have purchased both of the recipe books by Shelly. I have to say they are both good and bad. The price for what you get is a bit much I think. Some of the recipes there is no way I could eat! Others are very tasty. It does raise your grocery bill trying to buy the things that she uses, spices, oils etc. Not to mention the added cost of fresh foods but that is such a small price to pay for the health benefits. I feel great. I have been doing the Ph Miracle for 4 weeks and cant begin to tell you how much better I feel. I have for the past 6 months been cutting out coffee, soda and teas. I can honesty say I sleep better, I have no more headaches and I dont get that mid day sleepy feeling I used to. I can stick with this because its easy. I have just now started to ween off meats. I actually have lost the craving for meats, they make me a little ill smelling them. I dont know if its from eating fresh foods or not. I do still indulge once a week on a small treat. But those cravings are fading as well. My family used to never think about touching my chocolates now i dont even want them. I have lost 1 inch and 7 pounds in 4 weeks, I dont have much weight to loose so this is truly all health reasons to stay on this plan. I hope this helps you.

I highly recommend this book, because it is so easy and straightforward. The recipes are yummy and the book is especially good if you are new to the "Alkalize/Acid" approach to health, as it has some really simple guidelines you can follow and lists of ideas for different meals. I could write forever but you really just need to buy it and see for yourself. ENJOY!
Well done! Apr 18, 2007
This book has become one of my favorite kitchen books. Throughout it thinks of the reader, beginning with being spiral bound. The book has a comprehensive index, glossary of terms, tables such as "Sprouting Guide", beautiful photos/print, helpful lists such as "Recipe Title by Nutritional Category" and "Recipe Titles by Alphabetical Order", comprehensive "Getting Started: The Proper Tools" section (such as salad spinner, chopper, Vita-Mix), a "Let's Go Shopping section that includes a comprehensive "Ingredients" guide, and "Resources" for suggested ingredients, to mention a few!
I especially appreciated "Shelley's Shortcuts" where I could get a head-start on the daunting task of food preparation following her twelve suggestions such as to "keep lemons and limes on hand" and which items to keep on hand in the freezer.
That said, it is HARD to eat mainly the foods listed in "Foods You Can Eat Freely" or "Foods You Can Eat Sparingly." I found many of my favorite foods missing and found them instead on the list "Foods You Should Never Eat" such as "chocolate" (gasp), "whole grain bread," and my favorite "tea!"
I accepted the author's "Invitation to Change," by using "phasing" and am following the step-by-step "transition" guide. The author graciously mentions "It took over a year for us to phase milk, risen bread, and meat out of our kitchen." I believe it may take longer for me to phase out my favorites.
Thanks to the authors - well done!
Great Reference Book Feb 24, 2007
What a great book. I have applied a great deal of the Alkalizing Lifestyle to my everyday life. it is a transition and Shelley explains this before even sharing one recipie or method. I would like to see a book with more preperation and method for less experienced and for folks that are not as, let's say, daring in the preperation of food.
What kept me from taking this step in the past was the cost. Well I was not only misled but also misunderstood how economicle it is to take this step into a health and cleaner life path. Hope many take this step... I was extreamly overweight, (still overweight but naturally losing lbs by simply eating right!) and now I'm on a path to my natural body weight.
Oh, let's not forget EXERCISE! very important... not talk'n olympic stuff. just a simple exercise reg... Thanks Shelley (and Robert) for the tools I needed to get right with my life (@ 50 Years old, I'm finally getting healthy...)
