Item description for Echoes by Sharla Lee Shults...
Overview One day, an angel rested on my shoulder and began whispering in my ear. Days and nights ran together as the words poured from my thoughts onto paper. Poetry is a way of expressing my innermost thoughts to touch the hearts and souls of strangers, as well as those I love. Thoughts echoed in this poetry epitomize expressions of inspiration. These verses are generated from random thoughts, comments from others, images portrayed, or creative reflections of feelings to warm the heart and lift the spirit. The poetry in this book offers simple expression as a means for sharing true feelings from the heart-down-to-earth, without restriction, with simplicity, of a fundamental nature, and with God's blessing.

This Website should pride itself on constructive reviews, instead of posting such a personal attack as that of January 17, 2005. It is obvious that someone desired to express negative feelings toward the author in writing through a public venue instead of in person.
As far as the works of this new poet, the poems are truly of the heart. While not reflective of experienced, renown works the expressiveness is open and genuine. There is a favorite for anyone.
Self-Publishers Lack Talent Jan 17, 2005
In my opinion, this book has only one poem of merit. Otherwise, the author's entire SELF-PUBLISHED "VANTITY-PRESS" ramblings show no talent; which reveals the author's need to self-publish!! Her poems describe in words... instead of in descriptive narrative;the mark of a definite amateur of no talent. Ms. Shults needs to stick to her good looks and leave the writing to those of true talent. I rate this book ONE star for there is ONE poem that might pass the muster. Otherwise, the author has no usable talent; her writing is shallow and without meaningful feeling to the masses. Perhaps her family might understand her poetry. Alas, her leaves need left to family gatherings and spare the masses from redneck ramblings. And $999 is a lot to spend to self-publish such nonsense.
Simplistic, uncomplicated verse! Jan 14, 2005
Genre: Poetry Echoes AUTHOR: Sharla Lee Shults Echoes can only be described as poetry for the masses- Simplistic, uncomplicated and without literary parameters. Echoes is a book of first offerings of a new poet. The book is simple in its form and expression- an uncomplicated collection of the poet's experiences presented in poetry. The content is presented in five sections: Echoes from the Heart, Echoes of Inspiration, Echoes of Life, Echoes of Love and Echoes from the Past. Section one shines with: Mama's Little Girl Satin ribbons and tiny bows Pretty flowers in your hair Cotton dresses with eyelet lace Sewn together with care............
Throughout the book, unfortunately, some of the works are rambling with no cadence or balance of line- failing in syllabic verse, while others are excellent examples of traditional quatrain. Although the content of Echoes does not compare with the literary masters, the emotion and in-depth feelings are sincere and easily recognizable by most readers. The author offers this work as " a means for sharing true feelings from the heart." Inspired by God, she has succeeded. From section two: Images As the sun becomes visible along the shore Mirror reflections expand across the sea Figures emerge as shadowy outlines Resembling mental allusions set free....
And this reviewer's favorite in Section five:
Memories exist in a solitary place Hidden deep within the mind Visions and thoughts stored away Secretly where only one can find.....
