A Whisper From A Reader Dec 4, 2005
I can't remember the last time I read a book as inspiring and masterfully written. I was drawn in by its wonderful detail to description woven into every story and fastened with a message from God. Every moment I picked this book up to read, I was absorbed in its pages. As the words enveloped my soul, I felt the arms of the Father drawing me close where I felt His love for me and heard the passion of His voice. I discovered that in every season of my life He whispers, and that when I take just a moment to step out of the chaos and lean into His arms, I hear it.
A beautiful reminder to LISTEN! Jul 17, 2005
Are you grieving? confused? hopeful? discouraged? Shannon Woodward understands the seasons of life. A WHISPER IN WINTER is a collection of poignant stories borrowed from real life; a glimpse into what happens when God speaks to a heart willing to listen and learn.
Prepare to wonder...weep...rejoice. This book contains the raw materials of everyday life--experiences that we as human beings share. Woven throughout is a theme of God's eternal purpose. Long after the last page, I felt wrapped in hope. And once again, I remembered that God is bigger than anything I'll ever have to face. Shannon Woodward's writing is rich and deep; a reminder that God is more than enough, in every season of my life and yours.
Read this book.....Then listen Mar 26, 2005
This book still whispers to me. It follows me and lingers like a fragrance-a sweet, holy haunting.
Shannon's voice was poetic and tender as she recalled God's whispers; those that she heard-and those she missed. I read this book with hopeful tears as God spoke loving and tender words to me-though Shannon.
Her points of view provided both a telescope and a microscope. She showed me how the small things of life are really the big things and reassured me that big mistakes can be made small if they are dipped into God's vast mercy.
If you want to be encouraged and reassured that the Lord is interested in the details of your life, read this book. Then...listen
A Comforting Read Jan 27, 2005
I read A Whisper in Winter like I eat a bag of little Dove chocolates -- slowly, savoring each bite. Each year, I read dozens of books, but it is rare that a book captures my heart in the way that this book did. Shannon has gone through some awful times in her life, yet the book did not drag me down. Instead, I felt hopeful for myself during my own rough patches. If Shannon can come through such trials and still praise God, then so can I!
