Reviews - What do customers think about Christians Going To Hell?
Don't be so sure Nov 22, 2008
I don't think the issue is a supposed doctrine of salvation by works - the question is deliberate sin and Hebrews 10 says that if we sin wilfully after receiving the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins but a fearful expectation of judgement (verses 26-31).
The testimonies of Mary Baxter, Earthquake Kelley, H.A.Baker, Daniel Ekechukwu should also give one pause for thought if one is living in sin and deliberate disobedience.
Shiny Cover! Oct 22, 2008
This books has a beautiful, shiny cover! Imho, this is just not an interesting book!!! It usually takes me a few hours to read a book and it has taken me more than three days with this one. I am not going to continue reading it. Really disappointed since I was expecting real life testimonies; thought perharps events of near death experiences?? God bless the author, but I do not like this book.
Being saved gets you into Heaven Oct 22, 2008
I read some of the comments and I will not even buy this book. There is noooo way you can keep all the commandments and laws of the Bible that the Lord has (Deut. and Lev.). Once Adam and Eve ate the fruit of good and evil, we were doomed. Why do you think the Israelites sacrificed animals? To be forgiven of their sins, duh. We are all born into sin regardless of what we do. Only Christ can save you from being condemned, but there is still no way anyone can be 100% perfect. It is not by works that gets you into Heaven, salvation is. Once you are saved, not no one can take that away from you. That includes other humans and the devil.
Fraudulent book of Pastor Byun Sep 2, 2008
If these nonsense essays were posted on the Author's personal blog, I would not care much. But, publishing, advertising, and selling a book are quite different matter. The Author asserts that `real' Christians who were justified through faith can be dropped off from salvation if they fail to keep their holy lives. Most of all, he bitterly criticizes Calvinistic doctrine of `Perseverance of the Saints' as the most important cause of modern immoral Christianity. The Author's soteriology (theory on the salvation) can be summarized as "a salvation accomplished by works". He insists that a believer is justified by faith at first stage, but to make his salvation complete he must live a spotless and faultless life. He also insists that the salvation of Calvinism is not biblical because it teaches a salvation obtained by faith which does not accompany works. But these assertions only demonstrate his total ignorance on the basic principles of Calvinism. The faith in Calvinistic theology means a confession of union with Christ, and the confession and union are the results of regeneration, which is sovereign work of the Holy Spirit. The regeneration and union with Christ inevitably produce holy life of the saints. If not, their faith is not the saving faith. The assurance of salvation in Calvinism is based on the fact that regeneration is God's work independent of our doing (including faith). He quotes a number of articles from Lloyd-Jones and various Puritans to support his argument. I am not sure whether he is really an ignorant man or is intentionally deceiving his readers who may be ignorant about Calvinism, considering his criticism on Calvinism by quoting Calvinists (but neglecting and distorting the context). Citation from Sthephen Charnock was the highlight. Charnock said in his book that regeneration is the origin of the signs of real Christian such as repentance and faith. But Pastor Byun distorts by mentioning that Charnock taught a regeneration obtained by endless repentance and our holy deeds which in fact is the essence of Pastor Byun's soteriology. At this point, I was speechless. Pastor Byun has brought much criticism in Korean church due to his distorted soteriology. He has written about 20 books and booklets on soteriology until now. Most of his arguments are based on mysterious visions, direct revealations, and `new' prophesies presented to him or his fellow believers. (Jeremy Nelson, Bob Jones, Todd Bentley are included in this group. Pastor Byun is the most enthusiastic defender of the "New Apostolic Reformation" in Korea.) He emphasized that his interpretation of the Bible has divine authority. (He posted one of his church member's vision in trans saying Pastor Byun's books were located in the library of Heaven, but Calvins' were not. In one of his booklets, he even insisted that the angel who had supported Apostle Paul in his writing of Galatians and Romans also supported his writing.) I hope there would be no more translation or publication of such fraudulent books in U.S.
A misinterpretation of Scripture! Mar 31, 2008
Ironically,( and amazingly) the author quotes a passage from Scripture which actually disproves his thesis ! Read Matthew 7 : 21-23 again very carefully. " Not everyone that sayeth unto me Lord,Lord, shall enter the kingdom of heaven: but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven." What is the will of the Father? Is it to do works , or "merely" believe Jesus is the Christ? Read Matthew 7:22 : " Many will say to me in that day, Lord ,Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name?and in thy name have cast out devils?and in thy name done many wonderful WORKS? " Well, there it is! Doing works is not what gets us into Heaven. ( What better works can you do than tell prophesies and cast out devils??!!?) Matthew 7:23 states : " And then will I profess unto them,I never knew you: depart from me,ye that WORK iniquity." (When Jesus used the term "knew you", he meant that those people never believed in Him as Saviour.) Wow! Not only will works alone NOT get you into Heaven, God even states that " works alone" theology is an iniquity!! Keep believing in the Protestant ( Lutheran and Calvinist) doctrine of "Faith Only" , and I'll see you in Heaven.
