More About C. I. Scofield
Cyrus Ingerson Scofield (1843-1921), Bible student and author, was born in Lenawee County, Michigan, reared in Wilson County, Tennessee, and privately educated. Converted at 36, he was ordained to the congregational ministry in 1882, and served as pastor of the First Church, Dallas, Texas (1882-1895), and again (1902-1907); and of the Moody Church, Northfield, Massachusetts (1895-1902). He spent his later years lecturing on biblical subjects on both sides of the Atlantic. The work for which he is best remembered is his 1909 dispensational premillennial Scofield Reference Bible.
Reviews - What do customers think about KJV Old Scofield Study (1917)-Burgundy Bond Indexed S/S ?
Reasons i think this Bible is great. Sep 22, 2004
I have had this Bible for over a year now and its great. The spacing between the words and lines is perfect and the font is not too thin and not too thick "bold." Jesusý words are a perfect red not like the Nelson bibles which are more like scarlet-brown. For the most part his (the deceased Scofield) notes are right on. As a note, the New Scolield Bible/notes has notes added to it to increase its sale ability to roman catholics - so if you are interested in reading the original notes; you would be best reading the OLD Scofield. Naturally the KJV is the simplest translation to read and memorize.
My only regret was not buying a ýwide marginý other than that is Bible is great!
Very Bad Print Nov 25, 2003
The printing for this Bible is very bad. The pages are so thin ink from the backpage bleeds through. The words of Christ are supposed to be in red but they appear to be a pale pink. Anyone with less than normal eyesight will have a difficult time reading this bible.
buy it Apr 1, 2003
If your looking for a good quality Bible with solid and reliable study notes this is the Bible for you. I would avoid the "New" Scofield for reasons below:
The first and most weighty reason why the New Scofield Bible is not a Scofield Bible at all is shamefully simple. Dr. C.I. Scofield did not edit it. Dr. Scofield died in 1921!
A book which claims on its title page that a dead man (Dr. Scofield) is one of its editors.
The text of the New Scofield Bible is NOT a King James Bible and it is NOT a Scofield Bible.

The Best Study Bible To Date Sep 6, 2000
The OLD Scofield is by far the best study Bible I have ever used. Most of the "hard" words are referenced in the margin without any harm to the text itself. The study notes, sometimes a bit difficult to understand, are by far the most comprehensive notes available. The concordance is better than most Bibles and the maps are the most accurate without buying a separate atlas. Scofield has also included a complete appendix for a name study and subject reference. Also included with this study Bible is a subject chain reference. The chain reference is extremely complete, and at the last reference verse is a summary of that particular subject. All of the "old-time" doctrines have been wonderfully preserved and explained in this study Bible. If you have any desire to know the Bible, the OLD Scofield is a MUST.
