Reviews - What do customers think about Spectrum Math, Grade 5 (Spectrum)?
Excellent book, maybe not perfect Mar 14, 2009
This is a very good book. It might not have everything exactly as you want it, but it has pretty much everything you need for 5th grade. It has only 1 page of prime factors and 1 page on Least Common Multiple, but it does have problems for that. It's hard to find a better book and it's impossible to beat the price.
Basic skills, Excellent Feb 14, 2009
The Spectrum Math Books are quality math books that focus on the very basics. They have extensive, step by step practice in the very basics of math.
For example, in the 5th grade book there will be review, lessons and practice in the four basic skills, fraction work, etc. What will be lacking will be practice in metric measurement, Roman numbers, and other skills. Spectrum math books cover the basics and they do it well.
Spectrum math books provide a sound and strong foundation in the building blocks of math. If your child is in need of extra practice in a specific skill area or in math at a specific grade level this is a great book to put up. If you are homeschooling and you want your child to have a good grasp of the basics before going further, this is a great book to pick up.
Basic Skills, Learning, What more can you ask for? Enjoy.
thorough, but lacking in breadth of concepts Jan 9, 2009
The workbook style structure is great for independant study of basic math concepts. There are many key concepts typically taught in 5th grade work such as geometry, probability/ratio, and metric measurment that are not covered here. Those topics would need to be supplemented for the student to meet benchmark requirments for 5th grade math.
We love this math series! Feb 3, 2007
This is a great low-cost math book for homeschoolers. We paid much more for other math programs, but have used Spectrum Math for grades four and five. I recommend this to all of our homeschooling friends. Easy to use, with an answer key in the back of each book.
Great Math Book for Homeschoolers Jul 11, 2003
I homeschool my daughter and this series is great! I love using workbooks. It allows her to work independently. The answer keys make checking the work fast and easy! I just received this book for use next year for 5th grade. I am not disappointed. It appears to cover 5th grade math adequately. I used the same series last year along with "Math Made Easy-Grade 4" by John Kennedy. It supplied a very complete math curriculum. I also ordered "Math Made Easy-Fifth Grade" for additional math practice for next year.
